Choosing same first and last name as an Irish celebrity?? Last minute panic!

Clodagh McKenna

NC for this as identifying! Baby due in 2 days!
I have loved the name Clodagh (Clo - da) for years, DH too. I have a DD but at the last minute after she was born I got concerned (about this reason) and gave her the name 2nd on our list.

If I have a DD2 there is no other name I like as much, but it is the name of a chef in Ireland. I live in Northern Ireland and I don't watch TV so I am not sure how famous she is (I know I have had time to research better but really have not worried about it until last few days), if you google the name you get a lot of pictures of her and she seems successful. But would it be like calling your child Gordon Ramsey? Or Jamie Oliver? Or would that matter?

I have asked a few people I know/ relatives who think it is fine (they had heard of her) but I am not sure they are giving me an independent opinion.

Thank you very much for all your replies!

I've not heard of Rachel Allen!

Rachel Allen rings a faint bell with me, but it's not a name with much individuality. There must be hundreds of people by that name. Whereas Clodagh is much more distinctive - the only one I recall is the singer Clodagh Rodgers.

Rachel Allen is another Irish chef who's much better known. She's the DIL at Ballymaloe, and invites a fair amount of mockery for her made-up pseudoposh accent.

FraggleHair · 29/06/2015 11:40

I feel sorry for the slagging she gets over her accent.

WinterOfOurDiscountTents15 · 29/06/2015 19:15

I know her (but probably because I've met her rather than anything else!) but if you like it I wouldn't be a bit bothered. She's not that well known.

I know one Clodagh and she's super cool. Just for that reason I say do it.

hazelnutlatte · 01/07/2015 00:25

My friend is called Rachel Allen! It's rarely noticed or commented on and the chef Rachel Allen is far more well known. Go for the name you want, few people will even register it's the name of a chef.

BualadhBos · 01/07/2015 00:43

I know who she is but I wouldn't take any notice if someone had the same name. If you have a boy you could call him Paul Wink

BualadhBos · 01/07/2015 00:45

Oh I see you have decided against that (didn't read thread properly)
