Aled... Too like Alex?

Just wondering what the general consensus is regarding Aled? Is it too Luke Alex (nice name, but I'm not keen on its popularity). I'm in Ireland and haven't heard of any other Aleds here, but maybe I'm wrong.

I like it a lot but it's similar enough to Alex that I wouldn't use it for siblings...

Which syllable has emphasis (ALed or alED)? If alED I think it won't get confused with Alex out loud but spell checkers will still try to change it.

I have never once seen or heard the name and though 'Alex'.

I guess Aled Jones in particular has made it famous enough for people to know of the name and not think they've misheard something else.

Oh ,and it's a lovely name.
