How many Sophies do you know? Just noticed it was the 9th ranking girls name in 2015. Personally havent heard of any. Its the only name DH and I agree on, what else might we like. He has suggested Abigail and Tabitha I dont like them. I love Erin and Esmee he hates them.

I think Sophia has become slightly more popular where I live. Sophie is a beautiful, beautiful name. Suits babies, young girls, older girls and teens and adults. It means knowledge/ wisdom too. It has been at the bottom end of the Top Ten for years but my DD1 is the only one in her class. Perhaps we're lucky about that but we chose timeless classic names for our daughters because we wanted them to feel normal not weird. DH and I both have very uncommon names and we hate them. Go for a more out there middle name to appease your DH if necessary. She will also have a head start with reading 'ph' when she gets to school! Wink

Out of 6 girls in DD's reception class there are 2 Sophies. Know a couple of others of various ages.

I think Sophia seems the popular/trendy one at the moment whereas Sophie feels more classic to me. Strangely I know more Abigail/Abby's than Sophie's! Beautiful name.

My favourite girls name, it's fab!

I know of one aged 1.

I think there is a Sophia at my son's nursery but not come across any other Sophie's.

I doubt you'll find a name as good but other suggestions are:
Chloe
Lauren
Megan
Freya
Bethan
Leah
Scarlett
Anya
Carla
Mia
Lois
Georgia
Isla
Kirsten
Thea

I think Sophie is the most overused girl's name of all. I know SO many of them.

I can think of 8 Sophies that I know - 2 are teenagers, 6 are in their 20s and the other one is 2. I like Sophie, I think it's a classic and won't end up as dated as some of the other top 10 names.

I've got a 9 year old Sophie - beautiful name, I still love it!

Apparently it was the 3rd most popular name the year DD was born but she's always been the only Sophie in her class/club/activity. Maybe it's a regional thing!

I've got a Sophie in infant school and she's the only one in her (humongous) class. And the only one I know, I think, other than the older sister of someone I went to school with. I fully believe it's as popular as they say but I've no idea where all the other Sophies are at.

I know two Sophies, one is seven and the other is 18. I also know a Sophia who must be about 21 or 22 by now.

I really like Abigail, it is a strong name and not too common. I only know one Abigail and she is 19.

Both are lovely names, but Sophie is much more common.

I really like the name Sophie and I think it is almost timeless - quite normal for any age up to about 50 at least. The youngest one I know is about 9, though I know two Polish Zofias younger than that. Of the other names mentioned, I'm afraid I love both of your DH's choices and only like yours - but they're certainly not horrible!
