Hi - I know it's in the top ten now. But how popular is Oscar? I'm based in London if that helps...

TIA

www.ons.gov.uk/ons/publications/re-reference-tables.html?edition=tcm%3A77-318125
click on link and then see Table 4 and Table 6

Surprisingly so IMHO and IME.

Only two names are duplicated in our current reception class, and Oscar is one of them.

Not in London, though, and often names are popular because they're good.

If you are in the South East then extremely.

I know quite a few baby oscars.

MyNightWithMaud · 16/06/2015 15:08

There were two in my child's class in a London primary, so roughly 1:7 boys there.

There are lots in DS's school (SW London). Two in his class.

I know a couple under 3 (in London). I think according to the 2013 stats it was the 7th most popular name that year. It's a name I love but have actually decided not to use because of its popularity. DD has a top 10 name which I love but want something less popular for DS (who incidentally was due 6 days ago, grrrr...!).

Thanks so much everyone and for the tables Flora- really useful. It's on the short list for now as I can't decide how much duplicates bother me!

Oscar and Max/Maximilian/Maximus are bound to be top three this year I think.
