Rumer

I'm thinking of this name as a possibility for a sister for Eli and Aphra. I think it goes really well, but know that it's a real love it or hate it name.

I'm sure those that associate it with Rumer Godden will love it and those that just think rumour will hate it.

So what is the consensus? Smile

I immediately thought Rumer Godden. I've always loved the name.

Thelastthneed · 09/06/2015 13:42

I love it. Smile

sweetpeame · 09/06/2015 14:38

First thought - Rumer Godden (although I have a feeling that Rumer was actually Rumer Godden's middle rather than first name). Second thought - Rumer Willis. I don't like it though.

DramaQueenofHighCs · 09/06/2015 14:43

I immediatly thought Rumer Godden too! 'The Rocking Horse Secret' was one of my favourite bedtime stories as a kid, I had it on cassette tape for car journeys too! (Goes and looks for tape...)

timelyreminder · 09/06/2015 14:54

It just makes me think of the word "rumour".

heritagewarrior · 09/06/2015 14:56

I'm in the Rumer Godden camp and really like it (goes well with your other names too)....

00100001 · 09/06/2015 14:56

IT would get spelled Rumour a lot :)

JanuaryJuniper · 09/06/2015 14:58

Yeah Rumer Goddens first name was actually Margaret but it's interesting that she went by her middle name Rumer over the more conventional Margaret.

The fact that it sounds identical to rumour doesn't bother me really but of course it can lend itself to silly annoying teasing easily, though from what I have seen children are actually very accepting of each other's names!

I wasn't familiar with Rumer Godden (although it turns out I've read at least one of her books!) and I would have assumed it was a boy's name. I don't really know why. I do think it goes well with Aphra and Eli.

IsadoraQuagmire · 09/06/2015 15:22

Rumer Willis was named after Rumer Godden. I don't really like it very much just as a name, but I do love Rumer Godden's books, so the association with her makes me think it's a cool name.

Sophronia · 09/06/2015 15:29

It makes me think of Rumer Willis

florascotia · 09/06/2015 17:29

Rumer was a family surname - in private life, Rumer Godden was known as Peggy.
Some experts say that the surname Rumer comes from an old German word that means 'boastful person'.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/06/2015 17:33

I love it, we had it on our list but had dses.

JanuaryJuniper · 09/06/2015 19:42

Rumer Willis association doesn't bother me really, she is pretty inoffensive as far as I know.

Dh loves it, which is great as it took ages to agree on dd's name.

Great name, and I think it goes really well with the siblings. Do it!

ThursdayLast · 11/06/2015 16:05

It's not my cup of tea, but I think it fits really well with your sibling names Smile

undoubtedly · 11/06/2015 16:08

Rumer doesn't mean boastful or anything else in German.

I like it, and it goes with your other names. Great names btw!

reuset · 11/06/2015 18:26

I like it. A nice 'fit' with sibling names also
