I thought I had decided on the name Luke for a boy as I like that it is simple, classic and cannot be shortened with a nickname.
I have a love hate relationship with the name Thomas. I like that it is a classic name, not too popular where I live but I do not like the nickname Tom.
Which do you prefer? The full names will be:
Luke Francis
Thomas James
I will not go with Luke Thomas as I want a middle name with family history (Francis or James).
Our choice for a girl is Anna.
Thank you.

Thanks for all the replies. I think we are pretty decided on Luke.
Hopefully I can stick with it and not keep second guessing myself for the rest of this pregnancy :)

Love Luke, reminds me of Paul Newman in Coolhand Luke, the epitome of coolness.

If you don't like the nn Tom. Don't use Thomas, because it will be his name and if wants to be known as Tom that is entirely his porogative.
You can't be saying to his wife 30 years down the line when she's calling him Tom, Erm his name's Thomas not Tom. You'll look and sound a loon. It states in either the children's charter or the ECHR not 100% sure but I think it's the ECHR any way. Everyone has the right to a name and a "preferred" name,
So on the basis I think you're best with Luke.
It's different opinions obviously but I don't know why you're so against the nn Tom. It's lovely strong manly, suits through life. All the Toms I've known have had lovely personalities
