Percy phone made me burst out laughing ! I pronounce it purse-eff-o-nee

reuset · 27/05/2015 22:22

In similar way you'd pronounce Penelope, or Antigone, if that makes sense. Them being Greek

Hobby2014 · 27/05/2015 22:26

That you for asking this OP. I was say purser-phone in my head when reading it on here BlushBlushBlush

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 27/05/2015 22:30

Oh good job I never met any one with the name.
I've been pronouncing it Purse or phone in my head, still I don't suppose purse or phony is much betterGrin

You can pronounce any Greek name now, no need to worry.

Easy way is to recognize the Greek name split it into however many syllables. 'E' endings have 'ee' sounds. Works for lots of the names mentioned on here
Eurydice - yoor-rid-dee-cee
Parthenope par-the-noh-pee
Antigone an - tig- oh- nee
Eirene - Eye-ree-nee

and so on.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 27/05/2015 22:52
