I really like Katy (but don't like catherine/Kathryn).

BUT my second name begins with K and sounds a lot like kirby

So it would be Katy kirby

Do I have to cross it off the list because it's the only girls name I have found I like so far!!

No, it's cute.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 27/05/2015 18:29

I think it's nice but then my children have semi alliterative names (we have a McSomething name and their first names have the same sound as the Something - if that makes sense?)

Mamiof3 · 27/05/2015 18:37

No it sounds sweet! Katy is a lovely name I know two gorgeous teenage Katy's (one is a Katheryn one is a Katy-Lynn)

MrsHathaway · 27/05/2015 18:38

It's a bit sing songy but not in the same league as Ronald McDonald or Neville Neville.

Would she be Katy on the birth certificate or Catherine/Kathryn (etc)? Catherine is less matchy.

DC1 would have been Catherine (Katy) if he hadn't had a penis. By DC2 I'd revised that plan slightly to Catherine (Kitty). I have three sons Grin

Sorry, have now read that you don't like Catherine. Caitlin?

I think Katy Kirby sounds a bit ... famous if you see what I mean. Like a character from a book or an actor or something. Something slightly styled about it.

I don't dislike it though.

A colleague gave her daughter a nearly-rhyming name and at the time there were some concealed Confused faces, but I'd sort of forgotten until I got on this thread.

Sothisishowitfeels · 27/05/2015 18:43

Thanks Grin

We were thinking of going with Katy Rather than catherine but with Anne as Middle name.

It may be a boy yet! We have decided to leave that a surprise until the birth!

I think it's fine.

Mamiof3 · 27/05/2015 18:47

Katy Anne is fab

MrsHathaway · 27/05/2015 19:00

Katy Anne is a terrible name for a boy Wink

Mamiof3 · 27/05/2015 19:02

Hahahaha

momb · 27/05/2015 19:13

Kak? really?

Until you added the middle initial I was all for it, but someone at school (mean girls aged around 10 probably) will notice this. The only thing that could make it worse is if your surname starts with Ka.

MrsHathaway · 27/05/2015 19:19

Could be Corby. Mind you, even spelt oddly it's a bit unkind.

Good spot.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 27/05/2015 19:35

I think the initial thing is a total red herring and I wouldn't give a jot - I can count on one hand the number of people who even know what my middle name is. Speaking as a parent of a bullied child, if they want to bully they will find something and it will have no relation to their name/initials etc.

Bakeoffcake · 27/05/2015 19:41

I know a Katie KirbyGrin

She's in her 20s and I think it's a lovely name!

Mamiof3 · 27/05/2015 20:15

The initial thing is a non issue

JakeyBurd · 28/05/2015 14:09

There used to be a singer Kathy Kirby in the 60s. My Aunt Cathy had a similar name and look, and when I was very small I thought that Kathy Kirby was my aunt!

'Katie Kirby' sounds pretty fab to me. Smile
