Thought I'd decided...

Hi, I'm due in a few weeks and we have finally decided on names. I'm totally in love with the girls name and really like the boys name but just don't love it. We have a daughter called Penelope which is not overly common so would like to stick with something a little less popular so have ruled out names like Oliver & Harry.

Our chosen name is Sebastian which is DH's first choice.

I also like:
Laurence (DH really doesn't)
Elijah (DH quite likes)
Rafferty (DH likes but thinks it's too trendy for us)!!!!

Any thoughts please??

I don't think of Rafferty as trendy as much as faddy. It's no classic.

I love Sebastian and think it goes well with your DD's name.

Can't STAND Elijah - again, faddy and 'now', and Eli sounds so whiny and nothing.

Like Lawrence, a good solid but unusual classic, but prefer the w spelling.

Out of them all, definitely Sebastian!

Other possibles:

Christopher nn Kit?
Barnaby
Spencer

Sebastian is a great name.

Thank you, I'm hoping it's just the wobbles kicking in as my due date approaches. I've always found lots of girls names I like, think I'm just getting nervous about settling on a boys name as we had far fewer options Smile

Sebastian rocks.

I have a Sebastian. Everyone we meet.comments on how awesome his.name.is.

Like Sebastian and Lawrence, other similar names: Sylvester, Benedict, Barnaby, Dorian, Jeremy. Though I'm thinking the "y" endings don't go so well with Penelope.

Rafferty is too faddy for sure. A celeb name is popular comment about iton here.

Elijah is a fine name, but seems to be thew new Joshua in terms of appeal.

Laurence I like, but this spelling, the 'w' being more often used for the surname.

Sebastian is a brilliant name. I wish DH like it!

It goes really well with your DD's name, too.

Drowsybutawake · 25/05/2015 23:40

Yes, Sebastian and Laurence definitely the best. Were both on our list!
