Barnaby, Albert or Wilf

I posted a few months ago as we were struggling with names for (surprise) DC4 if they turned out to be DS4.

A girls name is no problem Penelope Beatrice Betty, but having used 9 boys name as each DS has 2 middle names we are really struggling and DDay is pretty much here now.

The ones I'm coming back to are

Barnaby
Albert (probably with nickname Bertie or Albie)
Wilf (Wilfred on birth certificate)

I'd rather not say my sons' names as it would complete out me but I'm happy any of those 'go' with them.

We have one top 15, one top 50 and one top 200 names so a mix. The popularity of my first son's name does bother me at times so I probably lean more towards unusual names but getting the right name is the most important thing.

Any thoughts really welcome

I like Albert the best, followed by Wilfred. Not so keen on Barnaby.

Like them all. Barnaby is my least favourite, but only because I associate it with a pony that I used to ride.

In order of preference:
Albert nn Albie (not Bertie) - really like Albie
Wilfred nn Wilf - not a massive fan but just because it's not really my taste
Barnaby - dislike, maybe a good name for a dog

my dd2's best friend is called Barnaby. I really like it, not so keen on Wilf or Albert but non are awful!

Island31 · 24/05/2015 13:51

My DH is called Barnaby he shortens it to Barney and he likes it he says he can't be moody with a name like Barney he has to be happy! He also said yes there are dogs called Barney but only the cool dogs!

Clueing4looks · 24/05/2015 14:01

I love Albert nn Bertie.

I used to love Wilf, but a colleague has an 8yo Wilf and for some reason it makes me cringe whenever I hear it.

Marcipex · 24/05/2015 14:01

Barnaby is great, I also like Wilf which seems very different and a more serious name.
I don't like Albert tbh.

mrstweefromtweesville · 24/05/2015 15:03

WILF is some ridiculous acronym in teaching - 'What am I Looking For', in a 'what are we learning' context. Teachers will expect your next child to be WALT.

Barnaby is ok. Albert even. Wilfred if you never allow it to be abbreviated (or lengthened - Toyah Wilcox's rabbit is called 'Willie Fred', read that somewhere).

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 24/05/2015 15:06

Not Albert - bert is a really ugly sound imo. I'd go for Barnaby.

I really like Barnaby! I've never heard of a dog called that either.

Stinkersmum · 26/05/2015 09:41

Love barnaby!

YellowLemons · 26/05/2015 19:48

I love love love Barnaby, but have never been allowed it with any of my boys ! Maybe if I get a surprise DS4 one day Grin

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 26/05/2015 19:53

I love Wilfred (it is DS's middle name). I quite like Albert - less keen on Barnaby (I know one - DS does t get on with him - this may cloud my opinion).

Other names I considered for DS: Alec, Dominic, Edwin, Hugh, Isaac, Jasper, Percival, Victor

winkywinkola · 26/05/2015 19:56

Barnaby. Ds3 is Barnaby and I love the name. It's round and bouncy and jolly. Does that sound daft??
