Morning everyone

I have a llitle boy called Ellis and i am expecting number 2 (also a boy) in August. We are having a hard time choosing a name. We like unusal but not too out there. We have come up with Fraser, Fletcher and maybe Austin (I am not that keen on Austin) Does anyone have any thoughts on those names or any inspiration? Thanks in advance!

Just commenting to say a big, fat no to Fletcher. I know a couple who recently named their son this and it has caused a lot of "Fletcher? Fletch? Like in 'Porridge'?" Comments. This has been said by everyone who has heard the name. It's seems to be everyone's go-to association.

From your list I like Austin best, although will admit to not loving surname names in general.

Smooshface · 20/05/2015 09:24

I wouldn't mind that association personally! And that will not be the association in their peer group, just with parents, so how it will affect them I'm not sure

I know an Austin, but if you aren't keen I would stick to your guns. Fraser is nice :)

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 20/05/2015 09:27

I like Fletch from Porridge but still not keen on Fletcher.. Maybe because it sounds like retch??

Austin is fine, but not if you don't like it.

Fraser is great and goes well with Ellis.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 20/05/2015 09:28

I like Fraser best from your list. I know a dog called Austin named after Austin Powers so that puts me off!

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 20/05/2015 09:29

Fergus and Douglas are nice and go well with Ellis imo.

tellmemore1982 · 20/05/2015 09:29

I like all of them, Fraser, Fletcher, Austin in that order, and really like your choice of Ellis as first name btw!

tellmemore1982 · 20/05/2015 09:31

I would add Raphael (Raph), Harrison and Orson to the list too. Edson is also really nice but probably a bit twee with Ellis.

SylvaniansAtEase · 20/05/2015 09:33

Fraser is by far the nicest on your list and goes really well with Ellis - two really nice, slightly unusual but familiar and easy to say/spell names.

Don't like the other two at all.

How about Spencer, Rory, Tristan, Simon?

PennilynLott · 20/05/2015 09:44

Fraser with Ellis as they're both islands

timelyreminder · 20/05/2015 10:22
  1. Austin
  2. Fletcher
  3. Fraser
Sophronia · 20/05/2015 11:47

Fraser, it goes well with Ellis.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/05/2015 11:50

Archer?

Really not keen on Fletcher.

Fraser is nice.

Austin a bit bleugh.

FatWalda · 20/05/2015 14:11

I do like Austin as it's a form of Augustine, so appropriate for an August birthday.

MummyV2eb · 20/05/2015 14:51

Ah thanks so much All, really great to get so many responses! I didnt think about the Porridge connection! and the Austin Powers connection it really made me laugh. I think Fraser is the clear winner. ;o)

I like Fraser best. Ellis and Fraser were both on our lists but our boys are called Flynn and Seth.

Tootaboo · 21/05/2015 12:03

I love Fraser, would be on our list but my friend has one.
