Hypothetical naming here ... which middle name do you like best?

Naomi Joy
Naomi Vivienne
Naomi Violet
Naomi Tess

Joy

twirlypoo · 18/05/2015 14:56

I like Joy best as well.

However.... did you know that Naomi is 'i moan' backwards? I had a friend at school who was teased mercilessly for this and it has ruined it for me as a name. Sorry Sad

inmyshoos · 18/05/2015 14:59

Joy definitely

swancourt · 18/05/2015 15:56

Hmmm, I think if we worried about things like that twirlypoo we'd never be able to name our children anything ... everything rhymes with something, or alliterates with something, or sounds like something, and if it doesn't then there's probably something else about all of us that mean people could choose to pick on. That's a pretty obscure thing to be teased about! Sad for your friend though.

Another vote for Joy. Like Naomi too btw.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 18/05/2015 16:20

Naomi Violet

VT82 · 18/05/2015 16:54

You don't seem to get that many Naomi's these days. I like it!

I prefer it with a one syllable middle name, and out of Joy or Tess, it has to be Joy for me.

Ham69 · 18/05/2015 18:57

Funny you should say that VT82 because, although not a popular name, I know loads in the area I live in. I know 3 adults and 3 under fives.

FatWalda · 18/05/2015 19:46

Naomi Joy, I think, but would need to know what the surname sounds like to be sure.

sweetpeame · 18/05/2015 19:52

Naomi is a nice name, I really wouldn't worry about the "I moan" possibility!

I think I'm the only person on mumsnet who thinks middle names are almost entirely irrelevant so unless you're using a family name or one with a special connection then they all sound fine to me (and as I said I strongly believe it's pretty irrelevant in any case).

KanyesVest · 18/05/2015 19:59

That's really funny, one of my bffs, who I really do love, can be a massive moaner at times...I never noticed the "I Moan" thing!

Great name though, like it best with a short middle name, so I think Joy works.

Twirlwirlywoo · 18/05/2015 20:06

I love this name and almost called my DD this.

It was my MIL that ruined it for me.

I wanted it said NAH-OH-ME but MIL kept saying NI-OM-EE.

After 3 months of trying to correct her the stubborn cowbag refused to be corrected (she has form for being a bit of an awkward cow just to get a reaction) I ditched this lovely name because I could not face the rest of MILS life hearing her refer to my daughter by the wrong name. Chose something totally different.

Naomi Joy is my favourite from your list.

WickedCrip · 18/05/2015 20:07

Naomi Violet. Because I love love love both names

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/05/2015 21:09

Lovely name.

Naomi Joy is my favourite of your combinations.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/05/2015 21:12

I like Joy or Violet.

I like Naomi but not pronounced NaOmi < helpful HmmGrin>

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/05/2015 21:14

Twirl - my lovely FIL still calls my ds the female version of his name , even after 14 years he doesn't get it rightGrin

Sophronia · 18/05/2015 21:55

Naomi Joy

Miltonmaid · 18/05/2015 21:59

I think Joy you. What is the correct pronunciation of Naomi? I'm never sure. Is the o in the middle like oh, or o as on orange?

Naomi joy is lovely
I love the name Naomi

swancourt · 19/05/2015 08:45

Naomi Joy basically means 'Happiness Happiness'! Almost unanimously the favourite though - interesting. I love it the best too, but it is DH's sister's middle name. His dad gave the best ever wedding speech about her, ending with her rather dramatic birth story (he delivered her), and how they gave her the middle name Joy and that's exactly what she has brought them every day since . He is quite a reserved man so it was so beautiful and I've wanted to use it ever since. DH thinks it's weird to use his sister's middle name though, especially as he has other sisters.

Naomi means 'pleasant', I think.

Naomi Joy is my favourite.
I love love Naomi.

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2015 21:58

Naomi Joy or Naomi Violet, depending on what sounds best with the surname.

BreeVDKamp · 19/05/2015 22:06

Naomis I know are pronounced Nay-OH-mee, NAY-uh-mee, and Naiiiiir-mee.

I like it best the first way :)

Love the name though, nicely unusual nowadays, I'd pick Naomi Joy too :)
