Alice is my all time favourite name. I'm pregnant with dc2 and I don't have much to go on for names. Please help?!

Initial ideas (middle names are family ones and are definites):

Girl
Harriet Jayne
Elizabeth Jayne (Dh likes Beth. Me, not so much. I also don't like Liz/Lizzie)
Robyn Jayne
Louisa Jayne (would she be 'wheezer')?
Isla Jayne (Is it REALLY popular?)

Boy
Samuel John
Henry John
Evan John
Elijah John
Isaac John

Any feedback or new suggestions would be really welcomed.

Elizabeth - it will be shortened IMO
Robyn - not keen
Isla - yes it is!
harriet/Louisa - love

How about Orla, Nina, Cora, Elodie, Georgia

Boys - like all those except Evan which seems more old man than young boy to me?

How about Reuben, Edward, Noah, Daniel?

Lydia Jayne?

swancourt · 18/05/2015 14:42

I have an Alice Eleanor and (totally outing myself here) an Isobel Edith.

If we have a DD3 I like Lydia Joy. DH hates it though, so that will be out :D

If we have a DS1 he'll be Alfred (Freddie) Clive (after DH's dad). I'd like Arthur Clive but DH not so keen. I still have hope on that though.

Thanks for your replies so far.

I love Lydia as a name, but unfortunately I can't disassociate it from a former colleague.

Swan - I love Freddie and Arthur. I wasn't sure about using a name with the first letter of another sibling. Same as I'm not sure about using a name with the first letter of our surname. I love Marian or Meredith for example, but not sure if I can get away with it. Probably outing myself out now!

I don't like any of your girls names with the exception of Isla. The problem with Isla IMO is that it's very much of the moment (in England at least) ie I think it will become dated quite quickly. Harriet and Robyn always seem to get a lot of love on here but they're not my taste. Louisa is very boring IMO.

I like all of your boys names except Evan. Henry is my next least favourite just because there are lots of them. Then again there are probably plenty of Samuels etc too!

Lunastarfish · 18/05/2015 17:18

Robyn is lovely. Other than Henry and Isaac your boys names are lovely too.

Alice is beautiful.

I assume the spelling of Jayne is for family reasons? I much prefer simple Jane.

Girl
Harriet Jayne- good name but not as sweet/ pretty as Alice.
Elizabeth Jayne (Dh likes Beth. Me, not so much. I also don't like Liz/Lizzie)- v classic, v likely to get shortened so probably good to find a nn that you both like!
Robyn Jayne- Robyn is a nice name but not in the same league as Alice, in my opinion.
Louisa Jayne (would she be 'wheezer')?- Louisa is lovely
Isla Jayne (Is it REALLY popular?)- like Robyn, perfectly nice name but not as classic and pretty as Alice.

Boy
Samuel John- good
Henry John- my favourite, love it.
Evan John- not to my personal taste
Elijah John- okay
Isaac John- okay

I would associate other feminine classic names with Alice:
Eleanor, Lucy/ Lucinda, Charlotte, Katharine, Isobel, Juliet, Celia, Beatrice, Susannah, Rose/ Rosalind.
Boys-Edward, Oliver, George, Theodore, Quentin, Peter.

Sophronia · 18/05/2015 21:58

I like Harriet or Louisa with Alice, and Henry for a boy.

SilverBirdie · 19/05/2015 00:18

Alice is beautiful. We have it as a middle name for one in the list below:
Edith
Hannah
Florence
Eva
Clara
Ivy

SilverBirdie · 19/05/2015 00:22

Jude
Joseph
Jack
Sam
Matthew
Henry
Finn

I love Meredith but she will get 'Merry'

bluebeanie · 19/05/2015 06:45

Thank you for your suggestions/input so far. Dh and I had a look at names last night. We haven't come up with any more boys yet, but both of us were ok to also mull over

Beatrice
Erin
Eleanor
Hazel
Georgia

Silverbirch - I like Ivy, but baby not due in December. Not sure if it's considered as 'seasonal' as Holly?
