Hi all,

We have a couple of girls names we like and not many boys! Can anyone help, these are the names we like so far:

Maisie (Mairead)
Penny (Penelope)
Tilly (Matilda)

Georgie (George)

I would like to use May as a middle name for a girl and James for a boy.

:-)

Actually like all of them as first names alone.
But maisy may and George James together seems to samey.
Like a finnley Fred flintstone.
Maybe daisy? Henry?

So difficult, its such a responsibility isnt it?!

Thinking Jemima is also nice...can you tell I think its a girl :-)

Ok, I know a George who has sister Ella and brother Harry. I know another George with sister Alice. Lots of Tillys around atm. How about Anna? Boys: David is underused classic. John also.

momb · 21/05/2015 10:37

I'd pull the James forward to first name and use Jamie as nn; great for a child and he can choose Jim if he wants when he's older.

Girls, with May:
Maisie May is a bit much.
Penny or Tilly both work well.

Please consider whether the names you like are suitable for an adult as well as a small child. Georgie is fine - can easily be shortened to George when he's a lumbering 45-year-old - but Penelope and Matilda will always be little-girly names to me.

dottiemad · 22/05/2015 12:52

I think Penelope and Matilda are suitable adult names :-). Hence the reason for using them and then Penny/Maisie as shortened forms

Betty

Nelly

Dolly

But I really like Tilly. My nan used to call me Tilly Mint.

LeoandBoosmum · 22/05/2015 18:18

For a boy, Barnaby James or Rupert James?

MerryMarigold · 22/05/2015 20:53

I actually love the name Bart and wish I used it on ds2. He could really have Carried it off.
