This is our shortlist for DD due any day now. DH and I can't agree - which one should we go for?

I really love Anna and it would have been a major contender if either DS had been a girl - possibly shortening to Annie although it is a lovely name by itself. Imogen is pretty too. I'm not over keen on Ottilie because it is hard to spell (I never know how many ls!) and feels a bit frilly.

Just my opinion though!

I like all of them - they were all on my shortlist apart from anna. I like anna but it's too similar to my own first name.

At a push, Imogen :)

fionadal · 05/05/2015 18:18

Imogen is a fab name.

Anna is definitely on the rise post Frozen- there are suddenly loads of little Annas in the South-East, so I would steer clear of this if you're concerned about popularity of name and there being several in one class.

Imogen is far less common - I only know one other under 6

Ottilie is pretty but a bit of a mouthful I think. Having said that, it could be shortened to Tilly, which is very sweet.

Good luck - exciting times!

Imogen - ours is due in Aug but already has the name thanks to her 4 year old sister who latched onto it from day 1 of a discussion about names. Strong, not too common and suits females at all ages.

Madbengalmum · 05/05/2015 18:26

Ottillie, very pretty, far nicer than other options

AusBabysitter · 07/05/2015 19:34

I know an Ottilie, we shorten it to Otti. Very cute!

timelyreminder · 07/05/2015 21:19

Anna, definitely

Reignbeau · 07/05/2015 21:22

Everyone will think it was inspired by frozen if you use Anna. I'd go for Imogen, not keen on Ottilie.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/05/2015 22:47

in order of preference:
Anna

Imogen

Otillie

Allalonenow · 07/05/2015 22:49

Not keen on Ottilie.

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/05/2015 22:53

Ottilie

Then

Imogen

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 07/05/2015 23:19

Not keen on Ottilie at all, sorry.

RickOShay · 08/05/2015 16:40

I love Anna, and I think it is beyond the reach of Frozen. For some reason I don't like Imogen, and Ottilie is too frilly IMHO.

TheFillyjonk · 08/05/2015 16:43

Imogen is very common for babies now, I'd avoid it if you're worried about names being too popular.

Ottilie is very favoured on here but personally it makes me think of otters.

Definitely Anna.

balletnotlacrosse · 08/05/2015 16:49

Imogen is lovely.
Anna is also nice, but is very popular at the moment.
Not keen on Ottilie.

sweetpeame · 08/05/2015 16:54

In this order:
Imogen - was on my list if DS1 had turned out to be DD2. People often say it's popular on here but I've yet to meet one.
Anna - it's a classic name, I know one in her 30's and one 1 year old. I wouldn't worry about the Frozen connection as it's an established name in it's own right.
Ottillie - not keen really, sounds like otter. MUCH prefer the other two.

In case it's of interest, the other names on my girls shortlist along with Imogen were Alannah, Lara and Amelie.

eachtigertires · 08/05/2015 17:57

Anna

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 08/05/2015 18:39

Love love love Ottillie - was on my list...I had boys!

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 08/05/2015 18:42

I love otters but still not keen on Ottille.. It is very stereotypical mumsnet iyswim (hope this doesn't offend too many people!).

Anna and Imogen are both lovely.

peppapigonaloop · 08/05/2015 18:44

Love ottilie much more interesting than the other two.. Lots of Imogen's at dds school and among younger friends..

scribblegirl · 08/05/2015 18:46

Love Ottille but always a bit worried it's overly 'overheard in Waitrose' so not sure if I would be bold enough to use it.

Imogen by far my favourite between that and Anna. But then I have a name that can't be nicknamed and I always maintained I would want a name that could be shortened!

fairyteepee · 08/05/2015 19:08

love ottilie!

FannyPlant · 08/05/2015 19:12

Imogen is the most beautiful name I've ever heard. It will always be my favourite.
