Considering this for our baby due in 6 weeks - I don't know any little Ezra's in our area , so nothing to compare it to . Are there many/ any where you live and do you like it ?thanks

I had never heard of it until recently and I have now met 2 the same age with in weeks. (They were both 2)so I think It is gaining in popularity. It's nice though

VivaLeBeaver · 17/05/2015 22:35

I like it. I would assume you were Jewish.

nooka · 18/05/2015 01:09

We were going to call dd Ezra if she had been the boy we were expecting. I think it's a great name :) We are neither religious or Jewish, just think it's a cool name (esp nn Ezzie). We were going to use another name first just in case it proved to be a bit of a burden, but I doubt that would be a problem now with the increasing diversity of names (dd was born almost 15 years ago).

jerseygal78 · 18/05/2015 01:58

My dd is Ezri & it suits her perfectly. I would have had Ezra for a boy though

Met a woman on holiday who's son was called Ezra, love it!

maggiethemagpie · 20/05/2015 19:33

I like it. I can see it becoming a trendy name.

NickySummerbee · 20/05/2015 19:51

( Me ) Ezra, Eli, Ellion, Soren nn Sol , Ruben , Rory . Opinions would be welcome and feel free to suggest similar names along those lines . Thanks !

omnisianbles · 21/05/2015 00:35

Love it!

GatoradeMeBitch · 21/05/2015 01:34

I like it. It was the name of a Dingle family member in Emmerdale, but that's in no way an insult, the Dingles tend to have awesome first names (Shadrach, Jedediah, Eli, Zebediah, Cain, Noah).

DH wants to go for Idris instead . How do you think that compares to Ezra? I saw yesterday that Ezra is zooming up the popularity charts - no 4 on Nameberry . I quite like Idris - it seems like a strong, no- nonsense name and we are welsh so seems to make sense . What do you think ? ( would love to go for 'Idris Ezra' but too close to Idris Elba I think ?!)

Is Idris quite a well known name in Wales? If I heard a baby called Idris I'd assume his mother was a big Idris Elba fan - but there's nothing wrong with that!

ClementineAndCordelia · 25/05/2015 16:22

It's not overly popular / used in Wales at the moment , more a traditional name but I think very few people would make the link with the actor here as it's just one of those names which has been around for a long time in the background . I think it's making a gradual comeback now though . I only know of one other baby named it in the last couple of years around our area.
