The latter is the patron st of music but the name also means blind. Don't know why though.

The former is lovely but is it too way out?

I like both - Thessaly is a frankly terrifying witch character in The Sandman graphic novels, though. You definitely wouldn't want to mess with her! [gri].

Cecily! And off hand, so please don't quote me, the Latin could also translate as hidden, unseen and so on, if I recall, dredging my old brain from long ago Latin lessons.

Thessaly is too much like Cecily with a lisp (and I bet I've cross posted with that Grin)

CrispyFern · 25/04/2015 20:05

I don't like Thessaly at all.
Cecily is nice.

hagrace · 25/04/2015 20:05

Hidden! Is that any better!

Would you prn Thessaly or Thessaly?

Hidden isn't the best I suppose Grin

mathanxiety · 26/04/2015 07:28

I second the comment about the lisp. Please don't name your child Thessaly.

florascotia · 26/04/2015 10:45

Thessaly is a region in Greece. www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/591885/Thessaly Would you want to call your daughter Brittany or Chelsea? If so, why not, I suppose - but it really does sound like Cecily with a lisp.

Cecily is so much nicer!!

matchingmoll · 26/04/2015 10:52

Cecily is nice. Thessaly makes me think of thalassemia, which I think is a blood disorder.

HuftysTrain · 26/04/2015 21:59

Is it Cecily with a lisp? I really like Cecily but the potential lisp thing really puts me off.

EvilTwins · 26/04/2015 22:02

Patron saint of music is Cecilia, not Cecily.

TheNewStatesman · 27/04/2015 03:17

Cecily!

sweetpeame · 27/04/2015 07:26

I don't like either but Cecily is far better than Thessaly.

calzone · 27/04/2015 07:35

CeCe is cute for a non for Cecily.

Thessaly is not so nice. ConfusedConfused
