maternity care assistant?

I received a letter in the post saying I have an appt with a maternity care assistant at home to discuss feeding choices, health in pregnancy and classes available. None of my friends have heard of this, anyone else had one of these? Thanks

I never had a home appointment with one but they are essentially healthcare assistants but who work alongside midwives rather than nurses. It may be a regional thing having these appointments? Or no doubt cost saving as it is cheaper for them to utilise maternity care assistants rather than a qualified midwife.
