A middle name for Bethan

I like Catherine and it has family connections, but am not sure about the two "th" sounds together. Does this matter? Have been considering derivatives like Katia and Katerina but dh is not sure. Am pondering Charlotte, but I dunno, am not loving it - feels like a compromise.

Can't be another Welsh name as we are not in fact Welsh and it would be too much with Bethan.

Don't want anything beginning with L or ending in "la" as it clashes with our surname, otherwise Isla would be good. Names beginning with "E" best avoided for initials purposes.

Dh is not being very helpful on this one as he would prefer no middle name at all and has vetoed most of my suggestions without coming up with any of his own. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What about Scottish versions of Catherine -Catriona or Katrina (both pronounced the same) or even Katrine?'Bethan Katrina' flows nicely....

Thanks timely - I do like Alice and Grace but dh thinks they're a bit wet. Juliet is worth thinking about - thanks.

Flora - Yes, I think those would be ideal, but dh is unconvinced. Bah. At this rate I might just sneak off and register the name while he's at work!

Tbh I don't think it matters - after the first couple of weeks you will never use the full name out loud anyway. I think it's useful to have a middle name for identification purposes if you have a fairly popular name. Try putting Bethan "Surname" into Facebook and see how many hits you get if you want to gauge it.

If you like Catherine and it has meaning for you then just have it.

We picked both my sons middle names as they were family names that had meaning then we checked that the initials didn't make anything really rude/stupid - how the names flowed never really came into the equation - I didn't even know that was a thing until i came on here!

Rose

It is always a lovely middle name. Simple and classic .

Thanks one. I am coming towards that view. Just trying one last ditch attempt to find a name that ticks all my boxes! Dd1's middle name is pretty much the opposite - no particular reason for picking it, I just liked the way they sound together.

I haven't heard the name Bethan in years; it's really lovely Smile

Crossed posts. Your first suggestion is actually dsis's name one and one of your suggestions is a female version of my late df's name, though I have never really connected them before. Hmm. Food for thought thank you. I am glad I posted!

gone. Yes, I do like that too. It sort of feels like the default choice though - it was top middle name last year I think. I love Rosa, but it's kind of bagsied by a good friend and don't know if that counts for middle names too.
