Violet or Kiki

DD2 is due in a few weeks and we can't decide on a name. Violet has been just about the only one DH and I agree on and we love Lettie for short. But I have recently thrown Kiki into the mix and we both love that one! Any thoughts on either name? Is Violet at risk of becoming overused?

Out of the two Kiki

Neither are great tbh

But out of the two Violet is a proper name at least, Kiki sounds like the name of a yappy, ball of fluff handbag accessory for a made in Chelsea airhead

Kiki was a very annoying frog in Hectors House. Nosy and interfering.

Violet is quite popular here at the moment, but that's because it's a lovely name.

I know a Quianna who gets Kiki (but spelt Quiqui, her parents are hippies though.

Violet is lovely.

Kiki is the parrot from the Enid Blyton adventure books.

I have met one Kiki, nn for Friedrika.

I loved Violet, it was on my short list too,but recently been put off it as it's extremely popular right now.

I love Kiki. So cute for a little girl and funky and different for an adult.

Violet is pretty but I much prefer Kiki

Really like violet, sorry not liking Kiki at all.

stormyboots · 29/04/2015 20:38

Violet is a beautiful name and Kiki although sweet I do consider it more a nn.

The popularity of Violet may be a consideration though as it seems to be rising fast. What about a longer name for which Kiki can be the nn and Violet then as the mn?

Violet. Kiki was a parrot. Am sure someone else would have said that but I have not RTFT.
