Hi there,
I am expecting a girl imminently & completely stuck on names.
My husband is relying on a short-list from me but doesn't seem to have been enthusiastic about my lists!
We already have a son called Cassian, though not sure I want to be as 'different' as this with baby no 2. I think I would like to avoid a name that is too popular if possible. Also I'd like the name to be easy to pronounce looking at it's spelling, though I like french/scandinavian names for some reason.

currently on my short list (in no particular order)
Eloise
Elise (?too much association with lotus elise?!)
Freya / Freja
Maisie
Coralie
Linnea
Maylea
Myla
Riva (?too much like Reeva steenkamp?)
Rosalie

Any other suggestions??
Thank-you in advance !

Like Linnea and Rosalie from your list. Coralie's nice too.

Is Linnea pronounced Linear? It's too similar to the clothes label Linea.

Never heard of Maylea which Id assume was May-Leigh if I'd heard it and I'm just not keen on hyphenated first names.

TheLotus Elise wouldn't put me off using Elise.

Elise makes me think of Beethoven rather than the car if that helps?

Sten35 · 20/04/2015 12:07

Thanks for the suggestions!
Linnea is pronounced 'li - naya' but agree looks like the clothe's line.
Im not sure about Maylea but my husband liked that one list night. I've had Elise on my list for years but he is almost vetoing it because of the car link, grrr men!

Really like Linnea and Rosalie from your list, although I suspect a lot of people would associate Linnea with the clothing line and expect it to be pronounced 'linear'. Don't like Maylea or Maisie (which are both very different in style to Cassian anyway) and the Reeva Steenkamp connection does put me off Riva a little bit.

Annika
Leonie
Manon
Rosanna
Greta
Alva
Lena
Vivica
Juliet
Mathilde
Amandine
Anouk

Love Cassian by the way - beautiful name and had long been on the shortlist for a future DS!

I know and Elisa if that helps - I also like Annalisa or Annaliese which give some different options for shortened versions.

or how about Rosalind. I like Rosalie.

or Miaja maybe?

RickOShay · 20/04/2015 14:41

Love Rosalie, beautiful name.
What about

Astrid

Saskia

Nina

Xanthe

Vivienne

Never even thought of Elise with reference to the car - I'm sure you'd be fine. I like Freya, Coralie and Eloise too.

How about:
Meredith
Rhiannon
Rosanne
Corinna
Belinda
Vashti
