To break tradition or not?!

Hello all,

Everyone in our family has an 'E' name...
My name is Effie
DH: Matthew Elias
DS1: Cody Eugene
DS2: Ethan Alexander (goes by Xander as often as Ethan)

And I didn't think choosing another 'E' name would be a problem, but...I have been in love with the two names Lucy and Phoebe since I found out it was a girl. So much so that instead of choosing between them, I have combined the two and started calling her Lucy Phoebe. At first I didn't think it flowed well, but now I REALLY like it!! DH defers to me in name choices, but is stuck on wanting her to have another 'E' name. What to do?

So I have narrowed my choices down to:

Lucy Phoebe
Phoebe Evaine (from Stardust)

Just curious which do you prefer?? Any thoughts welcome.

Lucy Phoebe Evaine works really well. GrinGrin

But phoebe may not start with an e, but sounds so 'e' - feeeebeeee! Does that not count?!

Well maybe not, but don't lump a child with a name even you don't particularly like just for being part of a club.

Rosie29 · 18/04/2015 21:32

I immediately thought the same as Lttlefoot, that the eee sound in Phoebe is enough! I personally think Phoebe Lucy is better than Lucy Phoebe.

The star in Stardust is spelled Yvaine iirc so I'm afraid it's not an E name either!

I'm sure the majority of people won't notice your 'pattern' because middle names are so seldom used. Pick names you like, not random E names

Lucy Phoebe is a lovely name. I don't really like Evaine, but how about Evie? It starts with an E and has a similar rhythm to Phoebe.

Lttlef00t and Rosie29,

Funny you should say that...my nn growing up was Miss Fi and I thought it would be great to call her Miss Phee...haha. So Ya, I think it counts!!

SunshineAndShadows,
Yep, when I looked up the name I just liked the E spelling better. Wink

As for the tradition (?), the trend was purely coincidental. It wasn't until after our DS2 that DH even noticed, but now he loves the idea.
