Angus or Felix?

Ds is a week old now and we still can't decide what to call him!

We have it down to Angus (my preference) or Felix (dh's preference).
She says we should have Angus as I carried /delivered him but I don't want to pick a name he doesn't love as much!

Dd is Harriet (Hattie).

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Are you scottish? I have friend with devil-child angus and both her and OH get really pi**ed off with "where is the scottish connection?" questions, such that they considered changing to using his middle name when he was about six months. Prefer Felix tbh but probably influenced by said devil-child.

FoamyOne · 16/04/2015 22:56

Angus for me (but I am Scottish, might make a difference to how I perceive it).

M1st · 16/04/2015 23:01

Nope, both English. Hmm.

Fergus?

Lucked · 16/04/2015 23:04

Love both!!

PeppermintCrayon · 16/04/2015 23:08

I vote Felix!

They were both high up on my list and DP vetoed them both (obviously he has no taste!).

I wouldn't worry about not being Scottish- we're both British and DD has a non-British name. Her name is beautiful and unusual, and it has never been an issue.

I love both names, but would probably choose Felix because I'm not that keen on Gus as a nn. Either way, great choice. And congratulations!

Sophronia · 16/04/2015 23:35

I much prefer Angus.

Guin1 · 17/04/2015 00:45

Two of my favourite boy's names - wouldn't know which to choose! Could you have one for the mn?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/04/2015 00:50

Felix (but I know some very strange Anguses, which is colouring my view). I also like the happy/lucky meaning of Felix.

Although I do agree with Fizzy that Fergus is very much a composite compromise of the two Grin

eachtigertires · 17/04/2015 04:34

Felix

HearTheThunderRoar · 17/04/2015 05:22

Both are lovely and good solid names but Angus takes the edge for me.

timeforabrewnow · 17/04/2015 05:44

Felix - but ultimately my view is immaterial as I've never met your baby!! (Angus is fine as well, I just prefer Felix)

Congratulations on the birth of your son Flowers

lolalotta · 17/04/2015 06:05

I prefer the nn Gus to Angus... I think Felix is a softer sounding name than Angus... Angus sounds harder, like the beginning of angry.

sweetpeame · 17/04/2015 08:46

Much prefer Felix!! Angus reminds of me Aberdeen Angus (burgers/steakhouse etc).

RL20 · 17/04/2015 10:04

Felix Smile
Good luck!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 17/04/2015 11:05

I thought of Fergus too. Until yesterday afternoon I would have plumped for Felix but saw a charming little boy called Angus so now I am torn.

Bowlersarm · 17/04/2015 11:10

Angus!

heylilbunny · 17/04/2015 14:40

What about Magnus?

Highlandbird · 17/04/2015 14:45

My DS is Angus, and I think it's a great name, obviously Grin other names on my list were Hamish, Ruaridh, Fergus and Lachlan if that helps?

rockybalboa · 17/04/2015 16:18

I love both. And Fergus I love lots and lots. And Magnus. Sorry, not very helpful... Although I do have a friend called Angus who isn't Scottish and the "what's the Scottish connection?" question does get a bit tiresome for him.

FatherHenderson · 17/04/2015 16:24

Angus!

We know one and he is ace. Felix is far more popular and that would put me off.

Marcipex · 17/04/2015 16:29

Felix

I wonder why there are so many strange Anguses, I know some too. When other boys don't like you, they just leave the g out of your name.

howabout · 17/04/2015 16:35

Both on my list if we had had a boy. Like the meaning of Felix though!
