No.

My dd's initials are worse but the first name was the only name we could agree on and middle name is a very sentimental name. Nobody has commented so far.

If the name is the name you want, choose it and take the risk of wc (which isn't even that bad IMHO)

Out of interest (refuse to answer if you like) what is the name you have in mind?

OutragedFromLeeds · 12/04/2015 02:32

I don't think initials really matter (unless they're really, really bad}. I have never, ever known anyone who has been bullied/mocked for their initials and kids today don't know what a WC is anymore anyway.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 12/04/2015 02:42

I almost called one of my DC Bo and then someone pointed out her surname starts with G, it was enough to put me off. WC, i don't think anyone calls it that any more anyway so you will be fine

sweetpeame · 12/04/2015 07:46

I actually think initials are pretty irrelevant (in contrast to lots of mumsnetters it seems) unless they spell out something horrific. Realistically when does anyone use their initials? I can't honestly think of an occasion when I've used mine in say the last 30 years or so... Maybe it says something about me but I never even considered DD's initials when naming her and haven't given it any thought for DS who's due in June. So no, (rant over!), I don't think there's any issue with the initials WC Grin

RoganJosh · 12/04/2015 07:51

I use my initials all the time at work, in all the emails, documents etc we are initials. I would probably avoid WC I'm afraid, unless I really didn't have another option.

slooj · 12/04/2015 07:54

Could you add another name between the W and C to avoid this?

Gingerandcocoa · 12/04/2015 07:58

In my work, when we are working on a large project, in all documents they use the first letter of your first name plus the first two letters of your last name. So if you're name is John Smith your initials in all documents would be JSM. So WC would end up being something else.

I wouldn't worry.

Mouthfulofquiz · 12/04/2015 08:32

We use initials all the time at work - in documents, minutes, policies and you almost become known by them! So personally, I would be a bit careful.

Amummyatlast · 12/04/2015 08:48

Another one here who uses initials all the time at work. But I don't think that WC is that bad.

Guin1 · 12/04/2015 10:28

Like W.C. Fields? I don't think it's an issue. Not many people use the term WC any more, esp not younger people.

Panickypants · 12/04/2015 20:53

William QueenB. I think boys do use initials quite a bit. He will defo have a middle name .... Of course he might not be a he and then I don't have to worry or ponder this any further! Thanks all

Just found this thread and it made me chuckle, my DP initials are WC and he has never had any issues.
