A boys' name to rival Huckleberry

A friend at work has a little boy called Huckleberry (known as Huck).

I LOVE it but obviously can't copy it, as it's SO unique.

Can anyone think of any 'similarly' out-there but cute/cool names for boys?? Ds2 is due in the summer and I am struggling with an awesome, strong, interesting, unique name for him.

Interested in names from nature, literature, don't mind surnames-as-forenames in some cases...just something that stands out a bit from the kings and saints...

I DONT like: the trend for old-man names, or boys' names that sound too soft/feminine (I would put things like Robin, Caspar into this camp).

Help! Any ideas! What's the most awesome boys name you've ever heard??

Some absolute shockers of names here, hope some of these posts are light hearted. Why do people give their children cringeworthy embarrassing names like Huckleberry or Orlando. How about John, David, Steven, Andrew, Michael.

ByronBaby · 02/04/2015 01:41

How about Shepherd? Shep for short.

Rainy on the contrary, this thread luckily shows people exist with imagination, creativity and who are helping their DCs be unique and individual- not just melting into the dull crowd. Some of the names you suggested are the most dull, serious, plain, over used names around, I hope you weren't being serious?!

Just a thought - if you do choose a so called unique name (which in this context seems to mean a little unusual, rather than a one off which nobody else in the world has ever used, as the word would normally mean) how about sticking to the conventional spelling? Otherwise on top of being called something extremely unusual, the poor kid has the added complication of saying over and over again 'No, not Beelzebub - it's spelled BLZeeBubbb.'

Yep. Like those dull, unimaginative anonymous characters, John Lennon, Russell Brand, Bob Geldorf, Rita Ora, Sam Smith, Ricky Wilson, Andy Warhol, Claudia Winkelman, Frank Zappa...........
