What's everyone's views on Aoife as girls name??

We are in Ireland so people will know how to pronounce.

What middle name would you use is May/mae over the top?? Any other suggestions??

Please don't use may/Mae or Rose..they're so common now! Especially when hyphenated. Aoife is a really lovely name, and it's nice to pick a traditional one IMO Grin
Middle names which I think sound lovely with Aoife:
Belle
Joy
Olivia
Sophia
Elizabeth

Aoife is a pretty name (is it like eee-fa?) and May/Mae goes well, why would you think it's over the top? May is very popular as a middle name though (well in UK anyway, not sure about Ireland). Alternatively Aoife Mary would be nice, , but maybe you're all sick of Mary over there!

Aoife is my favourite Irish girls' name. The problem is, in Ireland, it's almost everyone else's favourite Irish name too. There are loads of Aoifes around here though admittedly most of them are teenagers.

As for middle names, Aoife May is perfectly nice. Aoife Maeve might be an alternative to May.

Aoife Clare
Aoife Catherine

I see from one of your other threads you like Cara, so Aoife Cara?

I like Aoife. I don't how popular it is in Ireland, but I'm in London and I know 4, so it's possibly having a popularity surge?

May/Mae is also nice, but just so overused. I think it's fine if you have a family connection, but if not I'd look for something a bit more unusual. Are there any family names you could use?

jusdepamplemousse · 29/03/2015 10:35

Aoife lovely. May is fine (not Mae) - but totally overwhelmingly popular as middle name. So ok if you're fine with that. How about -

Aoife Kate / Caitlinn
Aoife Joy
Aoife Maria
Aoife Wren
Aoife Willow

I think Aoife Joy is great.

Yes mae seems to be getting popular here now. We have mary a LOT here as Middle name and my thiughts were perhaps mae was traditional yet just a different version of the name. We are very open though it by no means has to be mae

Aoife is very pretty. I think longer names would be better for the middle, along the lines of Catherine, Elizabeth etc.

Marianne is similar to Mae, and might flow more easily?

We have been through so many names and think we have decided on a different one all the time!!!!

Would you pick Aoife over Anna?
