Beautiful.

Birdiegirl · 25/03/2015 11:00

Love it. I'm expecting dc2 in June and it's on my short list. Just have to convince DH Smile

manicinsomniac · 25/03/2015 11:26

I know a few adult Mariannes but no children. Very elegant.

SevenEleven · 25/03/2015 11:38

Beautiful name!

MyBootsAreMuddy · 25/03/2015 11:42

Beautiful, was on our sort list for both DDs1 and 2.

GerundTheBehemoth · 25/03/2015 11:43

It's my name. I've only met one other. I like it now but wasn't so keen when I was little, as people did get it wrong a lot (spelling and pronouncing). I hated being called Marion/Mary-anne, and was a shy child who didn't like having to correct people. But I've learned from these boards that people can and do get even the easiest names wrong.

I was named after the botanical artist Marianne North, who had a pleasingly adventurous life Grin

Yes yes yes. Classic and elegant. Go for it!

PoppyAmex · 26/03/2015 20:31

Always makes me think of the Leonard Cohen song (which is a thing of beauty). Pretty name.

Biscuitsneeded · 26/03/2015 20:34

Very Jane Austen - sadly the silly sister and not the likeable one, but still a lovely name!

LaLaLaaaa · 26/03/2015 21:14

It's beautiful and on my list but I know two mariannes and both get shortened to Maz which would upset me

DramaAlpaca · 26/03/2015 21:24

One of my all time favourite names.

CoveredInWit · 26/03/2015 21:27

Love it. Sense and Sensibility a favourite- and that Marianne is lovely and does acquire some sense in the endSmile

TheRealMaryMillington · 26/03/2015 21:30

Gorgeous

Wonderful Leonard Cohen song

DianeLockhart · 27/03/2015 15:59

Love it, only ever known one a friend of my Mums' when I was in my teens, she was a beautiful sophisticated woman. I wanted to be her when I grew up. Go for it.

HattyMonkey · 27/03/2015 20:31

Nn not needed but she sometimes went by Mari.

LaLaLaaaa · 27/03/2015 21:35

It's such a beautiful name though so I'm keeping it on my list!

GerundTheBehemoth · 27/03/2015 22:36

I get Maz and Mazza (but only by a few people) and old family nn was Manny. Never Mari or Annie (though I guess Manny is close to Annie).
