Hey all.

Just wondered what you all think of the name Cara for a girl??
Any suggestions as to what would go as nice middle name?

Any other suggestions for simple girly name?? We are in Ireland so very open to irish names.

I think a fairly long middle name with 3/4 syllables would work best with Cara (which is one of my favourite names!).

Cara Amelia
Cara Eleanor
Cara Imogen
Cara Sophia
Cara Francesca
Cara Jemima
Cara Isabel/Isabella
Cara Arabella
Cara Genevieve
Cara Alexandra

I agree with ralinax, Cara is a lovely name and as a middle name something with more syllables such as Elizabeth, Penelope, Philippa, Olivia, Louisa would be gorgeous.

Ailbhe
Maya
Róise
Avril
Eimear

Meant to say I love Cara as a first name.

Love Cara (so much so that it is dd's name!) and love that it is the Irish word for friend.
I really like Sophia, Imogen, Lily

These are all such nice suggestions. Do you all like cara as first name or would you rather Anna or aoife?? I'm in Ireland.

I have a Cara Ann but also love Cara Louise.

Love the name, its not overly popular in these parts but not unheard of either.

LovelyBranches · 22/03/2015 23:21

My closest friend is called Cara and she is lovely so very positive associations here. It's always been a name universally understood, easy to spell yet interesting. I also have a cousin called Zara and love her name for the same reasons.

I think the middle name would depend very much on the surname and it would need to be a strong name without a vowel sound ending.

Janinec123 · 23/03/2015 13:51

I really love so many of these options. I am so sure of boys option that im afraid as to why im hesitant about a girl option and am thinking is Cara the right one!! We both like simple girly names more on the traditional type but its so difficult to choose!! We do like Cara, Anna, Aoife those type of names but so hard to choose.

We are open to any other suggestions now you see what type we like if anyone has any!!!

Sorry to put a post on again but if we did go with cara there are few suggestions of May/Mae/Mai which do you think is nicer.

As mentioned previously ive mentioned the type of names we like and would love to hear some other suggestions?

I love Cara, think it's the Italian for darling, and was my Dads pet name for me when I was little.
It does look and sound lovely with a longer middle name. Love the suggestion of Cara Eleanor. Also like Cara Rosalind.

Janinec123 · 24/03/2015 15:18

Cara rosalind is a lovely option!! It's different. Have you all found it difficult to choose names?? I'm afraid ive over thought it all however boys were lot easier for us. Maybe I'm trying too hard to get nice simple girly type name and am worrying about what others think which I probaly shouldn't.

Cara is a beautiful name! I think you need to avoid a middle name that starts with a vowel though, as the two names will run into each other or you'll have to pronounce it in an unnatural, jerky way, like Rita Ora, I always think sounds like Ritarora, unless you sound the 'o' as quite a hard sound.

I think Cara Felicity or Cara Sophia sound lovely!

Janinec123 · 24/03/2015 17:06

Yes the vowel middle name might make it all seem a bit of a mouthful.

I was totally going to use Cara (but with a K) and I was going to use Linda as the middle name. It means gentle, beautiful. Which would go nicely with darling as a meaning.
