im looking for a boys name that gos ok with sir name jones. some people think anythink gos with the name jones but i dont think it does i feel it need to be a little different but not overly different. but a name that will set it of a bit because the name jones is so common.

i was thinking maybe issac/isaac... i keep spelling it wrong so maybe its not such a good idea :/

i dont want anything with the j sound so nothing starting with j. or g such as gorge

I'm just going to put this out there, what about something a bit zingy like Hercules? Nobody will forget Hercules.

I'm kidding, when DS1 was asked what he'd like DS2 to be called he drew up a small hugeessay list of the most ridiculous names. We had Hercules, Boris, Jeremy Piven, Kuzco, Hades (he watches too much Disney Channel, I concede) and Zelda. For the first 9 days of DS2's life he was referred to by all and sundry as Zelda and I was tempted to make DH cry when I registered him by using it as an official middle name (DH is very Tory-middle-class-proper). I chose to behave myself and now that DS2 is 4, he refers to himself as Zelda so the circle of life is complete.

If only there was a specific area of this site that deals with baby names, called something handy like 'baby name finder' it could really take off.

BikeRunSki · 22/03/2015 01:41

Amos

A lot of the names suguested - Ethan, Noah, Freddie, Isaac - are very popular, not "a little bit different" at all. Especially Isaac and Noah.

I think that one syllable names like Max are too short with Jones. Sounds curt and abrupt. Just my personal opinion but you did post it in AIBU Wink

I would (and have) considered
Dylan
Owain
Laurence (Laurie)
Sebastian
Alexander
Dominic

I think you should consider J names as well. I think it's really cool to have an alliterative name
Jonathan Jones
Jeremy Jones
Jacob Jones

mamadoc · 22/03/2015 09:25

Also liking some of the suggestions
Elliott
Gabriel
Oliver (objectively this is nice just has bad associations for me!)

People have different ideas about 'a little bit' different
I think that names like Peter, Steven, George are too common with Jones because everyone will know someone called that (or a shoe shop)
Isaac is looking to be the latter day version of something like that
If you like biblical I met a little boy Ezra lately and I thought that was pretty cool
