So I need a name that goes with the very we'll know surname s...., something nice and strong for a man more than a baby,
I like but don't think I love,

Henry ( bit popular)
Hugo ( bit posh)
Rupert ( bit mean)
Michael ( dp veto)
Sidney ( kids and dp fav)
Arthur ( friend baby name)
Angus (dp veto)
Charles/Joseph/Oliver ( all a bit popular for us but like)

Middle names will be David James probably.

Any inspiration gratefully received!

Fwiw I think Sidney works well with your middle names and surname.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 12/03/2015 19:50

I think, Hugh. I prefer it to Hugo as I think it's slightly less obviously 'a bit posh'!

RL20 · 12/03/2015 20:00

I love Sidney. I'm expecting a baby boy and Sidney is a favourite of my mums. But unfortunately it's my dad's nickname for one of his cars, (because of the number plate!) and my partners aunty has recently bought a puppy and named it Sid! So I can't really use it.
My other favourites are
Freddie (so Frederick)
Max (Maxwell?)
Theo (Theodore?)
Duke
George

also love the suggestion of Reuben, which is my current favourite however we'll be spelling it the Spanish way, Rubén, as a nod to the Spanish in my family a few generations back.

Good luck!

Archie as an alternative for Arthur, or Rowan is known but not too popular, kinder than Rupert, and good for both child and adulthood?

My DS(10) is called Stanley, its a proper mans name and I love it, He always gets lots of compliments about it.

I also like,

Albert (Albie, Bertie).
Leonard (Len).
Frank.
Billy.
Edward (Eddy, Ed).
Lawrence.

Thank you, some great suggestions, I've added frank, Stanley, Francis and Hugh to the list. We already have an 11 yr old Archie.

Ooh, well at least I suggested a name (I assume) you like Smile! How about Percy or Thomas? Reckon both sound really nice with Archie too.
