Anyone called Cleo or violet?

Hello, I'm looking for a violet or Cleo to ask what Nn do to get called and did your name cause you problems at school? My beautiful dd is currently violet, but I have a small nagging doubt as some ppl see 'violent' rather thn violet.
We are consider changing I to Cleo, but I know ppl link this to the car or get it confused with Chloe.

Any real life experiences would be really useful, thanks x

My grandma was a Violet. Her nickname was Vi. I think it's a lovely name (if I have a dd I'd consider it).

Wouldn't worry about 'violent'. Don't think kids would pick up on the possibility here.

MehsMum · 09/03/2015 20:00

Delphine, are you my cousin?
My grandma was also called Violet, always known as Vi.

Our dog was called Cleo, always known as Clippy.

Not quite what you asked, I know...

I love Violet it's my current favourite girls name

Ds is currently obsessed with the incredibles and the girl in that is nicknamed Vi

rockinrobintweet · 09/03/2015 21:11

there's a Cleo at my NCT group and the parents are calling her Lee as a nn ATM.

FayKnights · 09/03/2015 21:13

I work in a school and we have one little Violet, she is unbelievably cute.

StoneFoxMama · 09/03/2015 23:42

I know 2 dogs called Cleo (still like it though) and a beautiful little girl called Violet. I'd stick with Violet personally.

Zebda · 09/03/2015 23:45

I had a cat called Cleo, short for Cleopatra (she was a black cat)

BikeRunSki · 09/03/2015 23:49

I know 4 toddler-preschool Violets, 3 known as Vi and one as Vee.

The only Cleo I have ever known was just known as Cleo.

RL20 · 10/03/2015 09:07

Absolutely love the name Violet. Also like Cleo. Sorry no help really! I wouldn't see violet as 'violent' at all. What about Cleo-Violet?

Namechanged101 · 10/03/2015 09:15

I know 3 toddler Violets too, I really don't think it will be an issue at all its a lovely name.

slippermaiden · 10/03/2015 09:22

I know two violets. They are known as Vi. And cleo, well I knew a cat called cleo, she was Cleo-Kitten!

mrssmith79 · 10/03/2015 09:33

I know a Violet (nn. Lettie, she's 96 Grin and you couldn't meet a livelier, feistier little dot of a woman).
The only Cleos I know have four legs and whiskers.

M1985 · 10/03/2015 09:50

I love Violet, Id use it if my last name didn't start with a V.
I think your worrying unnessesarily about the violence thing, you can find links like that with most names.
I like Cleo a lot too, but Violet is nicer

squoosh · 10/03/2015 11:34

I like Violet but I love Cleo.

NKfell · 10/03/2015 16:05

I love the name Violet!

Defo don't worry about the 'violent' thing...My DD is Charlotte and my Mum kept saying she'll be called 'Charlotte the Harlot!'.

Sisi13 · 10/03/2015 19:07

Violet is a beautiful name! The only 1 I know is Violetta which I think is Italian.

If you love it use it!!!

Not keen on other name. Its strictly for CATS

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments. Feeling loads better about things, and decided to stick with violet. We love the name and really suits her and I think I just got a bee in my bonnet, for which I blame the hormones!
