Lydia Joy

DH prefers Phoebe Joy. We are set on Joy for a middle name (meaning and a family connection), but I feel like the names are too short. I think I prefer

Lydia Elizabeth Joy
Phoebe Elizabeth Joy

But then that's super-long name ...

Totally overthinking.

Lydia is a beautiful name. I really like Phoebe too.

Choccyhobnob · 05/03/2015 12:22

They are both nice Smile I don't think you need Elizabeth but it does flow nicely so just down to your preference of 1 or 2 middle names really.

AugustaGloop · 05/03/2015 12:23

prefer phoebe but like Lydia too. I think phoebe flows better with Elizabeth (Phoebe Elizabeth Joy) and Lydia without (Lydia Joy). Although you will say the whole name so rarely that I do not really think it matters.

ScaryChicken · 05/03/2015 12:50

Phoebe Elizabeth Joy is lovely and not too long imo

shakemysilliesout · 05/03/2015 17:39

I like lydia joy. Add Elizabeth if you like but it's not necessary.

ch1134 · 05/03/2015 17:41

Lydia Joy is lovely. Don't add Elizabeth. I'm not so keen on Phoebe.

disgustedemployee · 06/03/2015 14:26

Lydia Joy is my sister's name and I think it's lovely Smile

elfride · 06/03/2015 15:24

Thanks! Have gone bonkers :) Glad all options make sense to some!

I loved Lydia until someone said "Lydia - Chlamydia"Confused
that ruined it for me.

if it doesn't ruin it for you go for it.
otherwise choose Phoebe (I like it too, but doesn't go with our surname)

Leeds2 · 06/03/2015 16:03

I love Lydia. Not so keen on Phoebe, and I think there are more of them about!

dimdommilpot · 06/03/2015 17:32

I think Lydia, but then i am bias.

Karelia81 · 06/03/2015 19:11

I'm sure there was a book called Sisters where they were called Lydia and Phoebe (and Cassie?).

Prefer Lydia Joy. Elizabeth Joy is nice too.

ashesandfire · 06/03/2015 19:27

Lydia Joy is just gorgeous, simple and beautiful. No need for Elizabeth, I think it overdoes it.
I'm not a fan of Phoebe

GoulashSoup · 08/03/2015 15:52

Love Lydia Joy and Lydia Elizabeth. I do also like Lydia Elizabeth Joy as Joy is tidy and short. I am massively biased though as my name is Lydia Elizabeth (and a short middle name) and my mum is Joy Elizabeth! Perhaps it is familiarity but I think Lydia Elizabeth Joy would be a fab name. I love being called Lydia.

MaudeTheMopLady · 09/03/2015 07:42

My sister is called Lydia. Best name in the world imo..
Think both Lydia Joy and Lydia Elizabeth Joy sound fantastic.
Not so keen on Phoebe.

Lunastarfish · 09/03/2015 20:13

btough one, Phoebe and Lydia are both on my list! I prefer Lydia purely because it isn't as popular as Phoebe

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 09/03/2015 20:15

Lydia is a beautiful name

BlueKarou · 13/03/2015 11:44

Lydia Elizabeth Joy _ is nice, but does make me think of the Bennet sisters from Pride and Prejudice, and so I probably wouldn't pick it for that reason.

I think the shorter Lydia Joy or Phoebe Joy (not sure if you were considering that) would work just as well. Short names aren't necessarily bad. My sister's first name has two syllables, then a single syllable in each of the middle and last names, and it sounds perfectly good.
