Montague/Monty?

We quite like the nickname Monty, and do want a 'proper' name on the birth certificate. Montgomery is a bit of a mouthful IMO, though Montague is growing on me. Is it horrible/pretentious? I don't imagine it will be used in full very often! Thoughts welcome!

I think it's very cute! Names are going to be judged anyway and I speak from the standpoint of having a child with an unusual name (oh how unusual) and one regular classic (oh it's so common these days).

I love Monty and Montague is fine as a not often used Sunday name. Not quite as fancy as Montmorency!

We're having exactly the same name chat. DP loves Montgomery/ Montague but I think they're a bit OTT. I wouldn't want just Monty on the birth certificate though as its too much of a nn

Sorry, not much help but v interested to hear the MN view!

Don't like Montague at all, but Monty and Montgomery are lovely.
