So we're having a boy and I like names which are a bit different (I.e no top tens) but not way out there! Hubby has yet to start his list but I think it may be very bog standard. Hopefully when he makes his list I can cross check and fingers crossed he'll like / suggest some of these...

Elliott Jude (this is my top at mo)
Sebastian

Hugo Edward
Zachary
Quinn
Jacob
Giles
Lawrence
Flynn
Ethan
Oscar
Isaac
Dylan
Logan

Thoughts? Any other new suggestions / combinations based on the above...

Out of your list I like:

Elliott (but not Jude)
Oscar
Lawrence
Quinn

How about Elliott Quinn? Or Oscar Lawrence?

AndWhenYouGetThere · 27/02/2015 18:01

Jacob, Ethan and Oscar are very popular among little ones recently. I like Elliott and Isaac.

loislines · 27/02/2015 18:14

Love Lawrence. Isn't Quinn a girl's name?!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 27/02/2015 19:03

Love Elliot Jude. Also love Jude as a first name
Don't like Giles
Don't like Lawrence.
Oscar although very popular and over used is nice
Can't stand Jacub. Sick of hearing the name.
Ethan is nice wouldn't be one of my names though.
Don't like Flynn
Love Sebastian.
Hugo Edward is nice
Don't like Flynn
Love Issac
Quinn is a bit pretty and effeminate for a boy.
Don't like Dylan or Logan. Too many of them

Thanks all, only a few friends of mine have families and we don't socialise (yet!) in family n children circles (nurseries/schools etc), nor do I work with kids, so interesting that some of those names are quite common. No-one I know are called any of them!

I thought Quinn was boys name but may be wrong. Think a girl is Glee has made it more associated with a girls name. MrF would never go for it as a first name so it's prob def one to be discounted anyway.

Used to love Sebastian (still do) but quite common isn't it. Hence why I think Elliot (? One or two t's) and Hugo are some I think are less common. But again might be wrong on that! Grin

Jacob is very popular IMO and you said you didn't want top 10?

Elliott is such a wonderful name, as is Hugo.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 27/02/2015 22:26

Lawrence (although I prefer Laurence)
Hugo
Sebastian

shakemysilliesout · 27/02/2015 22:29

I like all except:

Logan

Zachary

Elliot Jude- way girlie

Karelia81 · 27/02/2015 22:43

I know a boy called Quinn, it works for him.

MsQueenie22 · 27/02/2015 22:52

Hugo, Edward or Lawrence

ButterflyOfFreedom · 28/02/2015 05:47

Zachary is my favourite.

Also like Flynn & Dylan.

NinjaLeprechaun · 28/02/2015 06:47

Hugo Edward sounds a bit too much like Hugo Award (given to the best Science Fiction or Fantasy work/event in a year) to me. Which would definitely make me think twice.

I like Sebastian or Quinn, also Zachary. Although I personally prefer Zachariah. I like Dylan and Logan, but feel like they're a bit dated.

curlii103 · 07/03/2015 11:56

Jacob isaac Zachary nice names but some of your choices are very popular!

TruJay · 07/03/2015 18:36

I love Jacob but am biased as I have one myself! I love unusual names myself but have always loved Jacob from being young so wanted it for DS. Although people say it is usually popular, DS is 5 and still hasn't come across another. Not at playgroups, swimming, football and in his year out of 90 children at school, he's the only one but there are duplicates of more unusual names.

I like Jude, my DSs best friend is called Jude and I love Flynn from your list.
