Ian, first / middle name help

shipsinthenight · 26/02/2015 11:58

Ian is a family name which I would like to use if DC3 is a boy. Problem is we have a difficult to pronounce italian surname which starts with Chi (pronounced Key). My first 2DCs have 3 syllable first names which flow well with the surname but I think Ian would require to be followed by a middle name (or used as a middle). Any help / ideas appreciacted.

Use it as a middle name.

Sorry, I don't think it is nice enough to use as a first.

Either middle name or - since Ian is an English version of Iain, which is Gaelic for John - what about John or even Giovanni ??

Thanks Flora that is a good suggestion.

What about a name that has Ian in it - like:

Julian
Caspian
Adrian
Fabian
Sebastian
Maximilian
Damian
Dorian

Giovanni is a great solution too!

I considered Ian too & started this thread last year. As you can see, it isn't well-liked. I didn't go for it in the end!

I'd like to see Ian used again, it is a bit dated but I think it's a good name.
