I am 25 weeks pregnant and cannot decide between the two names as I love them equally. Help, which one do u prefer Effie or Dallis?

Effie is my vote. But they're both nice!

BiancaDelRio · 25/02/2015 14:31

I actually really like Dallis. Now that google has told me it's a legit Scottish name Grin . Reminds me of Dulcie which I also love.

Effie is lovely too.

fizzycolagurlie · 25/02/2015 17:14

Have you thought of Ellis - it sort of combines them both (but does get confused with Alice sometimes)

manicinsomniac · 25/02/2015 17:15

I really like Effie

Dallis is quite pretty. I've never heard it before. I think maybe too much like Dallas though.

Only1scoop · 25/02/2015 17:16

Dallis I thinks sounds awful....

Effie is nice

Littlefish · 25/02/2015 17:21

Dallis is too like Dallas. People will constantly mis-hear and mis-spell it.

I would go with Effie.

Leeds2 · 25/02/2015 18:18

Effie.

Dallis will be thought of, and spelt, as Dallas.

NerrSnerr · 25/02/2015 18:20

I would think Dallis was Dallas if introduced to me.

Yika · 25/02/2015 19:54

Dallis is lovely, I know a Dalis - very unusual. Effie sounds too cutesy and short for something (pretty enough but Dallis is better).

I did think her name was Dallas at first though (but still, I quite like Dallas!! :))

VainVulva · 25/02/2015 21:19

Effie

thoughtsbecomethings · 25/02/2015 21:20

Effie lovelyWink

Laquila · 25/02/2015 21:20

Dallas is lovely but may get confused with Dallas. Do you like Dilys?

LaurieFairyCake · 25/02/2015 21:23

As long as the kids actual name is Euphemia then Effie is fine

gembickerdike · 25/02/2015 21:27

Thanks. Have considered that name before. Will think on that name more now. . Good idea x

Effie is lovely.
Dallis - I'd also assume you meant Dallas but had mispelled it, sorry. (Entirely my ignorance)

CoffeeChocolateWine · 25/02/2015 21:41

Effie is also short for Elizabeth. My niece is Elizabeth nn Effie and I love it.

rockinrobintweet · 25/02/2015 21:49

I always wanted an Ophelia nn Effie.. it's a beautiful beautiful name

RatMort · 25/02/2015 22:03

I'm with Laurie. Euphemia, known as Effie. Or Pheemie.

KatieKaye · 27/02/2015 19:23

Effie is NN for Euphemia.

As well as Pheemie (pronounced "Fay-mee") and of course Fay/Faye

Robstersgirl · 27/02/2015 20:43

Effie reminds me of the hunger games, is that where it came from? I think it's cute. Don't like euphemia sounds too much like emphysema.

AccidentallyInLove · 27/02/2015 20:50

I know a little girl called Effia. Effie is lovely.

BadIdeaBear · 27/02/2015 21:11

I like Effie - it was a random nn for me at uni (from effervescent...! No comment!).

I agree with PPs that it might be good to be a shortened form of something else.

Provencalroseparadox · 27/02/2015 21:30

Effie can be short for Euphemia, Ophelia, Elizabeth and Efstrathia.

workadurka · 01/03/2015 08:22

I think Effie could also be short for a name beginning with F - I'm thinking Fenella nn Nell or Effie if we have a girl.

merrymouse · 01/03/2015 08:24

Effie.
