Hi everyone,

Just wondering if everyone was like me, when it come to choosing a name for your baby, it is really a headache.

I am currently choosing a name for my baby.
I felt that it's really hard at choosing the right name for my baby. I want something that sounds nice and unique, easy to remember.

I thought about it for days, when doing laundry, watching movies (during credits) and been researching on the internet.
I also bought this ebook which contains quite alots of name, including those top names each year and also the meaning of the name (I dont want my baby name to be pronounce wrongly :), can say it really helps me alot. Would highly recommend to all mums. You can get it at babypopularnames.com if you are interested.

I have shortlist 5 for my boy and girl, short and sweet. I am looking at something that is local

boy

(common ones)
Daniel
Alex
Andrew
Gabriel
Lucas (unique)

girl

(Something that sweet)
valarie
Chloe
Isabella
Aubrey
Evelyn

I wouldn't say Lucas was a unique name. I'm tripping over them!.
Andrew is very unusual for a boy now. Gabriel is nice but becoming quite popular. Still not over used though.
Don't like Daniel or Alex, but yet I like Alex on a girl

Of your girls list
Valerie. It's very pretty and unique. Makes me think of Stevie Winwoods song. Call on me, Valerie, and Amy Winehouse and Mark Robson's Valerie.
Don't like Isabella, Like Lucas. I'm tripping over them, but your baby your choice.
Aubrey. Nice name.
Chloe. Quite unusual now for a baby. Very pretty.
Evelyn is nice. As is the nn Evie.

Just wait till you factor the dad into it and it's 'Don't like that...'

I had a name for a boy that I have had family 'dibs' on since I was preteen - the name Lewis. OH doesn't like it - he hates it!

The girl name I like the best also happens to be his ex's name - awkward...

We have settled on Georgia Ruth for a girl and Anderson for a boy - until it's born and then it will change again no doubt...

Aubrey is a boys name - did you mean Audrey?

Lucas is very popular at the moment - Luke less so I think. I like Daniel, Andrew and Alex but all the names are nice.

I'm not a fan of Chloe I'm afraid - it's sounds a bit dated now and not in a good way. The rest are fine, I'd say my favourites would be Evelyn o Valerie, or Audrey if that's what you meant.

Avery or Ainsley are similar and nice for girls too I think

I know a girl Aubrey and love it.

I like Andrew too.

Nice lists!

Daniel - it's ok
Alex - love it but with go with Alexander
Andrew - quite like it
Gabriel - like it
Lucas (unique) - like it but it definitely isn't unique

Valarie - not keen. And I think it's spelled ValErie
Chloe - like it
Isabella - love it
Aubrey - love it
Evelyn - like it

myother Aubrey is definitely not seen as a boys' name any more. In the UK it's rare for a girl and slightly rarer for a boy. In the US it's massively popular for girls and almost unheard of for boys.

manic Ach! clearly I know nothing! :o

If I came across an Aubrey, I'd think it was a posh boy.
