....do you always think Downton Abbey?

No - Lauren and Abi's grandmother on EastEnders.

MishMooshAndMogwai · 19/02/2015 12:14

I think eastenders. I'd rather think downtown abbey tbh, I think that's a much nicer association!

SweetSorrow · 19/02/2015 12:15

Eastenders here too, but I actually think it's a really pretty name and once you know someone with a name you'll start thinking of them first rather than a TV character

fishfingersfortea · 19/02/2015 12:15

No don't watch it but I do think of Agatha Christie! I think there was a Cora in one of her murder mysteries.

tinytops · 19/02/2015 12:17

Gaaah! Did not know there was an Eastenders Cora as well! Is she a major character?

I do. A friend has a daughter called Cora and she claims never to have seen the show. I remain sceptical about that.

SweetPeaPods · 19/02/2015 12:20

Sorry I think of eastenders too

momb · 19/02/2015 12:20

Don't watch Easteneders or Downton.
Corah Corman is a pop star/shakira lookalike in the low key (I.e. PG rated) romcon film 'Music and Lyrics', which my children like.

squoosh · 19/02/2015 12:22

No I think of my aunt. Cora from DA isn't such a terrible association (even though her weird baby voice is really annoying)

Tisiphone · 19/02/2015 12:22

No. It's a gorgeous name, plain, classic and comparatively underused, and our son might have been Cora had he not been a boy.

LollyLondon · 19/02/2015 12:23

Mostly Downtown.
It's a beautiful name!

SwedishEdith · 19/02/2015 12:24

I think of Last of the Mohicans. Don't watch Eastenders at all. Do watch Downtown but had to think who Cora was for a minute.

anotherdayanothersquabble · 19/02/2015 12:29

Cora is a beautiful Irish name.

Notso · 19/02/2015 12:36

I think of Corabeth from the Walton's.

Laquila · 19/02/2015 12:38

Ahhh, Last of the Mohicans! That's a great association - love that film.

OP, I think of dreadful Cora in Downton, but it doesn't put me off a such such a lovely name. Coralie is also gorgeous.

FunMitFlags · 19/02/2015 12:46

Downton

LouiseBrooks · 19/02/2015 12:48

Last of the Mohicans here too

LouiseBrooks · 19/02/2015 12:49

Oh or the 19th century courtesan Cora Pearl!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cora_Pearl

tinytops · 19/02/2015 12:50

I'd forgotten about LOTM! That is a more appealing reference

Trinpy · 19/02/2015 12:51

I thought of Agatha Christie too! There is an eccentric Cora who gets murdered in one of the Poirot books.

Nice, underused name though.

GerundTheBehemoth · 19/02/2015 12:53

I think of Eastenders, and also of the PG Wodehouse character Cora (Corky) Pirbright.

squoosh · 19/02/2015 12:54

I love PG Wodehouse. Would be great fun to live in one of his books for a weekend.

GentlyBenevolent · 19/02/2015 12:59

The Waltons. (Am old)

Didactylos · 19/02/2015 13:00

cora,with those lips of coral
you and i will never quarrel

saki, the secret sin of Septimius Brope

Sophronia · 19/02/2015 13:46

I do think of Downton Abbey.
