Here's my boys/girls shortlist, help me out...

Boys
Otis
Luca
Gabriel (hate all the shortenings tho, gabe, etc)

Girls
Clara (DH doesn't like)
Jessica (very popular, although i only know ones in their twenties)
Poppy
Sadie (is this too 'common'? believe we are not allowed to use the 'chav' word anymore)..

Any other suggestions helpful..

Otis - don't like it
Luca - like it
Gabriel - like it but agree with you re Gabe.

Clara - quite like it but no good if your husband doesn't
Jessica - love it. I have a 7 year old Jessica and know of maybe 4 others under 12. I don't understand how it's always so high on the lists.
Poppy - not keen. It's quite cute though
Sadie - love it.

From your list I'd go with Luca and either Jessica or Sadie.

Thanks, also like Casper, Felix, Milo, Nico and Theo from your boys list (quite popular round these parts)

From your girls list Molly was always the front runner when we were expecting first 2 Ds's but not sure it got a bit overused (also our surname begins with M). Also like Lydia, Phoebe (but DH doesn't) and a couple of the others but not sure if like them enough to use them. You also have my name on the girls list ...

Having a boy but love Evelyn! From your list I'd say Otis and Jessica.

rosepetalsoup · 19/02/2015 13:29

My DH doesn't like Clara of Phoebe either!!! Must be a thing (I love them both).

MaudeLebowski · 19/02/2015 13:37

Sadie isn't a name I'd associate with being 'common'. Confused

I love it. I think of Jude Law and Sadie Frost and the rest of the Primrose Hill set

mamaslatts · 19/02/2015 15:09

Maude - only say that cos we are neither posh nor fashionistas and worry we wouldn't be able to carry it off.. I've never really heard the name outside of Sadie Frost and don't really want a name associated with one particular person IYSWIM. But do love the name Smile

Favourites from your list = Luca and Sadie. I really don't like Gabriel.

mamaslatts · 20/02/2015 17:34

Thanks all, DH said he doesn't like 'Jessica' only 'Jessie' Confused

Have pointed out to him that he could call her 'jessie' and she could have 'Jessica' on the birth certificate but he is pouting.,, there is not a 'hard work' emoticon...

p.s. both DS's were not named til they were 2 weeks old and we knew we were having boys...

Otis- not keen
Luca- like it a lot
Gabriel- love it, but wouldn't choose it if I didn't like Gabe

Clara- love it, my favourite from your list
Jessica - bit boring, maybe a bit dated?
Poppy- it's OK but I can't imagine an adult called POppy
Sadie- like it

mamaslatts · 20/02/2015 19:16

Thanks ashes that is also my concern about Poppy (but was thinking as its now more popular there would be more adult Poppies about).

Sadie definitely seems like the front runner for a girl - I am surprised! I've not met any in RL. My only concern is that DS's both have names ending in 'ee' sound. Also, any ideas on middle names?

Luca also my favourite for a boy but might have to work on DH..

His only suggestions have been 'Laurie' for a boy (his grandad's name) and 'Lauren' for a girl..

Not keen on either tbh
