Rosa

Trying to get a short list of names we both like for forthcoming DC2. We have a DD called Poppy and both like Rosa this time round, which is a miracle as we find it hard to find things we both like! Are Rosa and Poppy too flowery together? I'm nervous of themes ...

No I like it.

Viviennemary · 16/02/2015 20:43

I like it too. It's a great name.

jellyandsoup · 16/02/2015 20:43

That's a beautiful name. I think they sound lovely together.

MincePieDiet · 16/02/2015 20:45

Lovely. Like it alot

Rebecca1608 · 16/02/2015 21:07

A beautiful name and goes well with Poppy :)

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 16/02/2015 21:10

Rosa's beautiful. Classic but not too popular.

reuset · 16/02/2015 22:33

It's a bit twee, the flower theme. But I think Rosa is quite a different style of name to Poppy. It could work

Sophronia · 16/02/2015 22:57

Rosa is lovely.

GColdtimer · 16/02/2015 23:02

Love it.

IsadoraQuagmire · 17/02/2015 12:57

I like it because it's my name (actually my third christian name) Also my mother's name! Smile

callamia · 17/02/2015 13:04

I love Rosa, it's a deceptively strong name. It's a little matchy having two flower names, but really - who cares? Flowers are lovely inspiration for names.

TempsPerdu · 17/02/2015 13:49

Rosa is gorgeous. Personally I'd try to avoid two flower names, but somehow Rosa doesn't feel too much like a flower name - it has a slightly different style (more along the lines of e.g. Greta, Elsa etc). I say if you love it, go with it!

twinjocks · 17/02/2015 13:56

Love it, and although it's a flower name, I don't think it's as matchy-matchy as, say, Poppy and Rosie - that different last vowel sound makes all the difference!!

slightlyconfused85 · 17/02/2015 16:35

Thanks for all your thoughts, seems that it doesn't sound too flowery all together. I always said I didn't want two flowers so was steering clear of Daisy, Violet but when rosa popped up we loved it. Think we shall propel it to the top of the list !

Love it, pretty and classic but still unusual.

Rosa · 17/02/2015 16:45

I like it but then I would ......Smile

AnnaNimitty · 17/02/2015 18:01

And that's a yes from me, its one of my names

kindersurprises · 17/02/2015 19:53

Rosa is a lovely name but I definitely wouldn't use with Poppy. I also think of them as v different styles.

shakemysilliesout · 17/02/2015 20:08

Poppy and daisy- no

Poppy and rosa- yes

It's a bit themey but nice.

Are you planning a 3rd? That's when a theme becomes a theme. Hyacinth?

Blackforestdonuts · 17/02/2015 20:21

Like it. And remember, they won't always be known as siblings.

Itchylegs · 17/02/2015 21:09

Beautiful - and strictly Rosa is not a flower but just German for pink.

clr2014 · 17/02/2015 21:11

I adore the name Rosa... and the name Poppy - beautiful, beautiful names. Personally I would be put off by having two flowery names but wouldnt think twice about others who had gone for it.

slightlyconfused85 · 17/02/2015 22:17

We have no intention of a third so the flower theme (mini theme) can't get out of hand!! Hyacinth Grin

I love it. It's DD2's Middle name, great choice op Grin.

Morelikeguidelines · 18/02/2015 18:41

I know a Poppy and Rosie with a very nice, intelligent mother, and no one bats an eyelid that there is a theme.

That said I prefer Rosa to Rosie as a name. Makes me think of Rosa Parks which can't be bad.
