Anna, Alice, what else?

Current favourite girls names are Anna and Alice.

I'm wondering what middle names might go with these?

Surname begins with L and has 2 syllables. I'm not even these names go all that well with the surname. Anybody got any suggestions for middle names or maybe first names I might like?

I don't like very frilly, overwrought names.

I wanted Maria as a middle name for DD. Ended up with Helena.

Personally, I would avoid two syllable middle names, if first and surname each have two.

I'd tend towards single syllable and early C20th/victorian, if it were me, but three syllables could work

Maude
Faye
Eve
March
Clare
May
Lou

Helena
Victoria
Louisa
Caroline

Thanks for the suggestions!

I couldn't sleep so was searching old name threads!

I'm especially loving Anna Juliet and Anna Matilda.

I had never considered the middle name Juliet before but its soooooo pretty and not often used, OK so it is a tragic character.

Just need to find a boys name I like as much!

I think Anna Juliet (or Juliette - is that too flowery?) is lovely.

If you will be using both names together often then maybe Anna Matilda has too many a's? Kind of sounds rhymey iyswim? But not an issue if you won't be saying it aloud to often, and Matilda is a lovely name.

*too

These names were both on our list along with Sophie, Margot and Louisa which have all been mentioned here. Good luck!

I love the a sounds in Anna Matilda.

Hi, congratulations on baby-to-be!

Personally I think Anna is a rather "smug" name- too symmetrical for my liking, plus think it will soar in popularity because of the film Frozen. It might be worth bearing this in mind?

I love Alice though, think it has a beautiful sound. Middle names I think would go well are three/four syllable names beginning with consonants(but not S):

Penelope
Margaret
Matilda
Marina
Jennifer
Dorothy
Miranda

These might all be alternatives as first names too?

Other classic/strong names you might like as first names:

Clara
Cara
Emma (love this!)
Eleanor
Hester
Esther
Tamsin
Flora
Laura

Good luck! Exciting times for you...
