Hya
I'm really struggling for names for #3 & I only have 4 weeks left to find a name!!
Just came across the name Lyra and wondered what your thoughts on it were?

Thanks

I think it's very, very pretty. It reminds me of "lyrical" and it's all round lovely.

MrsTawdry · 14/02/2015 20:57

BUT. You don't "have only 4 weeks left" at all. There's no law that says a baby MUST be named immediately. Both my DDs were without names for about 2 weeks. There is a cut off but you do get time. Sometimes meeting them can really help you decide.

DishwasherDogs · 14/02/2015 20:58

I've only heard it in the Northern Lights trilogy, but love it because of that.

Cataline · 14/02/2015 20:58

Love it!!

Deerhound · 14/02/2015 20:58

Great name!

Ginrummy · 14/02/2015 20:59

I have slight regrets that I didn't call dd Lyra. It's lovely. Do you know it's the name of the main character from Philip Pullman's Dark Materials books and she's a good strong female role model IMO.

afreshstartplease · 14/02/2015 20:59

I love it!

It was on my list

M1985 · 14/02/2015 21:11

Oh yay!! Good feedback, that makes me like it more.
Yeah I know I have a little more time to name the baby but I can't imagine taking a baby home without a name.. It seems odd.
And I'd like to have a name chosen as we didn't for DD2 and I feel like we rushed after birth to name her and I was never 100% happy with her name so Id like to be set on names before birth this time

It's very pretty.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 14/02/2015 22:05

Love it! Cried for two weeks at the end of Northern Lights!

tellmemore1982 · 14/02/2015 22:05

Sorry it makes me think of Lycra

wigglylines · 14/02/2015 22:26

I love it too, A great name, and fantastic books to read when she's old enough.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2015 22:27

Love it.

Lezprechaun · 14/02/2015 22:39

Was on our list for DD, love it?

SnoringNorma · 15/02/2015 00:16

Love it too. My brother's MIL is called Lyric which I think is also really pretty

ImGoingForATwix · 15/02/2015 00:37

Also think of Lycra, sorry.

fattymcfatfat · 15/02/2015 00:42

my sleep . deprived pregnant with a 1 year old brain actually read it as lycra. .the reason I clicked was to make sure some nutter wasnt actually going to call their child lycra!

Arsenic · 15/02/2015 05:44

Beautiful

shakemysilliesout · 15/02/2015 05:45

Lycra is a brand and so they'd probably sue the nutter!

I love Lyra and never think Lycra, only northern lights.

soundsystem · 15/02/2015 06:27

Love it!

bubalou · 15/02/2015 08:03

I love Lyra - it's a character name from the golden compass which is where I heard it.

firstposts · 15/02/2015 08:10

I know three Lyras. All born 2014. It's an up and coming name.

afreshstartplease · 15/02/2015 08:11

As well as lyra I also like lyla which is less popular I think

xvxvxvxvxvxvxvxv · 15/02/2015 08:13

About 6 Lyras at mines toddler group.

johendy · 15/02/2015 09:08

I really like it and I've not met any at the many toddler groups I go to. I took it off my list for number 2 though as, with my accent, it sounds too much like Laura, which for me made it less special. If I could make it sound pretty like it looks, I'd use it!
