Valentina on Valentines day...???

Hi all,

so we decided on Valentina for this baby's name. I LOVE it however, I'm now 40+1 and still no baby, it's Valentines day tomorrow though and I'm worried that if she comes on Valentines day it will be super twee and people will think that we did it on purpose when actually, it's because we love it and two of the possible shortenings are just perfect for us also, I'd assumed she'd be early because my other children all were d'uh.

Do you think we can still use the name? Any suggestions of any similar names just in case?

Thank you!

I would assume you'd only used it because of the date, but if it's the name you love I don't see why you can't use it. Or just keep your legs crossed til Sunday!

ScaryChicken · 13/02/2015 12:44

Do it!

Good luck x

I love Valentina and the shortenings we've thought of for it too. It's on my list.

Go for it!

Have i already told anyone that you love the name? If you have then they will know that you were always going to call your daughter that name.
She might not even arrive tomorrow yet so don't overthink it atm.
Whatever date she is born she will probably always be asked if thats when she was born like holly's, noels, ivy etc get asked if they were born at xmas.
Lovely name and abit different.
Good luck... Let us know when she arrives.

IHeartKingThistle · 13/02/2015 14:54

PLEASE tell me the grandmas are called Val and Tina.

LovelyBranches · 13/02/2015 15:32

Love this name. I don't think it's too twee. I find it more odd when someone has a name like Summer and they are born in December tbh.

Zsazsabinks · 13/02/2015 15:42

No, shortenings of:

Nina, can't have for a language problem, DH is Portuguese and menina means little girl, nina is the equivalent of something like 'babe' so that's out.

Lennie, my maiden name is Lenn possibly just outed myself and we've only had girls so I haven't been able to use pass anything from my Father's side on to them, little Lennie would be lovely!

I've told lots of people that Valentina is our name choice, I think you should tell people because if you still like it after everyone else has pulled a face at you and suggested something else then it's a goer!

Thanks everyone!

Go for it! That name and birth-date have never held me back.
(Although it is my middle name, not first name) I'm quite proud of the fact I was named for my birthday.

But it does mean that I can never go out for dinner on my birthday without being surrounded by soppy courting couples! Grin

We have a Valentina and no-one has asked if she was born/conceived on Valentine's Day. She is shortened to Vale (pronounced like valley but with a short 'e') which is the norm in Italy. I do get asked if DH is Italian when people hear the name.

wesH · 14/02/2015 09:34

No.

AddToBasket · 14/02/2015 09:37

Go for it. I think it's really lovely for Dc to have a name that grounds them in the calendar. I love Holly for Christmas babies. It's just one of those nice things that they have a little story about their name.

AuntieStella · 14/02/2015 09:44

One of mine was due around 14 Feb, and if they turned up on the day, they would have had Valentine in the middle (either sex).

BTW, ask anyone on the Chalet School thread and a female Len should be Margaret Helena.

Elllimam · 14/02/2015 10:14

I love Lenn or Lennie as a nickname. Valentina is lovely

Zsa

Any news, update please Smile?

BTW I hope she comes today as I think it would be lovely.

Good luck.

Reekypear · 14/02/2015 10:50

She will end up being val.

Zsazsabinks · 14/02/2015 11:50

No news unfortunately so I don't think this will be the day. Had lots of lovely tightenings but they don't develop into anything, possibly because I'm sitting here typing this with my DD2 sticking her finger into my eye saying "Mummy, mummy, mummy, mummy?" Gah!

I think it's super cute. Especially with a February baby!
