I am about 5 seconds pregnant with DC3, I do like to obsess about baby names so please indulge me!

Gender unknown but I suspect girl.

Would prefer names that are not top 100 but not too concerned about classically popular names for example Elizabeth, Benjamin very keen to avoid 'faddy names'

Girls:
Helena
Anastasia
Constance (Connie)
Laurel
Susannah
Thea (this doesn't go with surname in short form so would need a longer name with Thea as nm)

Boys:
Benjamin/Benedict
Rupert
Emmett
Gregory
Walter
Gray

DDs are Hazel & Celeste. Aware this outs me massively!

Any other names that might suit our style. I adore Miriam & Margaret but they sound terrible with our m sounding surname.

Please be brutally honest.

Girls names are all nice.
Only boys names I like are Benjamin/Benadict will is nn be Ben.
The other boys names are hideous, sorry, but your baby your choice

toobreathless · 12/02/2015 20:33

Nn would be 'Ben' though this doesn't sound brilliant with our surname.

I love Dorothea to give Thea.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/02/2015 20:35

I don't like Emmett, Gregory or Walter. Gray makes me think Fifty Shades of Shite.
I like all the girl's names. Thea is really elegant and unusual without being, um, too unusual. Wink

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 12/02/2015 20:37

How about Benedict with the nn Ned.

natenewt · 12/02/2015 20:43

Constance and Emmett are my favourites and sound love,y with the names of your dd's

Rivercam · 12/02/2015 20:46

Love Helena.

Alternatives:
Juliette
Savannah
Rosemary
Rosalind
Bethany
Phoebe

Love all boys names apart from Gray ( 50 shades of...)

Alternatives:
Douglas
Robert
Jude
Gene
Theodore
Brett
Tristan

Girls names lovely with the exception of Constance.

The only boys name I like on that list is Benedict. Emmett is dreadful, Walter is fine if you are 103 and Gray is just wimpy.

toobreathless · 12/02/2015 20:52

Goodness yes '50 shades!' Gray scrubbed off, thank you for pointing that out!

ADORE Rosalind and Juliette thank you river

Also like the suggestion of Dorothea

I am adding Robyn and Caroline too.

Like Benjamin and Gregory from your boy's list and Helena and Anastasia from your girl's.

ScaryChicken · 12/02/2015 21:21

I like all your girls list except Laurel (makes me think of Laurel and Hardy, I. E. a boys name). My favourite is Constance/Connie. Haven't heard that in ages.

ScaryChicken · 12/02/2015 21:23

Less keen on your boys list tbh, although I do love Benjamin, and I think Emmet is growing on me...

Sophronia · 12/02/2015 21:27

I like...

Girls:
Helena
Constance
Susannah
Caroline

Boys:
Benjamin
Gregory
Walter

Anastasia is also a bit '50 shades' - I can see it becoming a bit faddy because of that.

Thea could be short for Althea, Anthea, Dorothea or Theodora.

ch1134 · 12/02/2015 21:31

Girls:

I love
Helena
Connie
Susannah
dislike the others

Boys:
I like
Benjamin

dislike the others, especially Emmett! (Cornish)

sonniebonnie · 12/02/2015 21:42

Love Celeste and Hazel!

For their sibling I like
Emmett
Gregory
or how about Dominic, Quentin or Reuben

Helena
Anastasia
or how about Antonia or Theodora

SarahB1083 · 12/02/2015 22:52

I really don't like any of the girls names other than Thea but love Benjamin for a little boy! Good luck! X

GingerLDN · 12/02/2015 23:02

Love Thea for Theodora but not Dorothea. What about Quinn for a boy?

reuset · 13/02/2015 00:25

Benedict and Constance

SnoringNorma · 13/02/2015 00:35

Susannah and Benedict. Gorgeous.
