I'm looking for inspiration for DC2. We already have a little Marianne.

Names we love are:
Penelope
Evelyn
Jemima
Rose
Verity
Violet

Zachary
Nathaniel
Rafferty/ Rafe
Jude

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Felicity
Jasper

Really like Penelope and Rafe (though not Rafferty) from your lists.

ginzillas · 12/02/2015 20:43

Thanks. I like Felicity.
Rafferty is a bit Marmite isn't it? I love it but I don't think it's as classic as Marianne.
Girls are so much easier than boys to name!

Elinor/Eleanor

GoooRooo · 12/02/2015 21:03

I love all your girl names and all your boy names except Jude (which always makes me think of the Beatles, which I know is irrational!)

schopenhauer · 12/02/2015 21:07

Marianne is lovely. I would chose Verity and Rafferty.

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/02/2015 21:10

I don't think Rafferty is a bad name, I just prefer Rafe as a standalone.

Boys are harder to name, I agree!

Sophronia · 12/02/2015 21:19

I like Jemima and Nathaniel.

ginzillas · 12/02/2015 21:36

Think Elinor could be a touch too Austen!
I don't mind the Beatles link to Jude but we've met quite a few little Judes at playgroups. I would like something unusual (but not weird) like Marianne.

We have a Jemima and have Marianne and Felicity on the shortlist for dc2 due in June Smile

ginzillas · 12/02/2015 21:54

I can recommend Marianne! Does your Jemima have a nickname? Mimi is too close to DD's nickname so we'd call Jemima 'Jem'. I like good nickname potential.

Before I read your op I was coming on to this thread to say Jude for a boy!

Florence for a girl.

Mintyy · 12/02/2015 21:58

I detest the name Rafferty, and I never say that. It makes me gip a little bit.

pieceofpurplesky · 12/02/2015 22:03

Nathaniel or Zachery go beautifully. Sebastian would also go.

Manon, Elise, Aurelie for girls

ginzillas · 12/02/2015 22:15

Rafferty is definitely Marmite! I like Florence. Unfortunately we probably can't use Nathaniel, even though we love it, as it's close to a family member's name. Which is so annoying as I love, love love the shortening Nate.

We tend to call our Jemima "Mimy". We'd thought we'd use Mima, but by the time DH got back to the hosp the morning after she was born I'd naturally gone with Mimy... And it's stuck. She believes her name to be Mimy-Puddoduck Grin

I don't see why Jem wouldn't work as a nn for Jemima, especially as you wouldn't naturally go to call her a nn that you already use.

I love Miriam too, but have the problem of similar nns.

ginzillas · 12/02/2015 22:30

Mimy is cute and I love the Puddleduck connection! This is going to sound really pretentious but you can get baby picture book versions of classic novels so I got Dd Sense and Sensibility and she loves that there's a Marianne in there!

We are due DD next week and a few from your list are on ours.

Verity
Felicity
Along with
Beth
Alice
Constance
And some Irish names too.

It's so difficult to decide. SmileSmile

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 12/02/2015 22:48

I like the Puddleduck link, but she isn't the best role model! Then again, Marianne in S&S probably isn't either but i still love her Smile

Salmotrutta · 12/02/2015 22:50

If you like traditional names how about :-

David
Michael
Jeremy
Andrew

Jennifer
Melanie
Margaret
Beatrice

By the way, my Grandmother was a Jemima (born in the early 1900s) and she hated it... Grin

GingerLDN · 12/02/2015 22:56

Evelyn is nice

Juno321 · 13/02/2015 20:29

Alice
Elizabeth
Catherine

Henry
William
Jacob
