Girls names I like are often described on here as scullery maid names - Mabel, Betty, ivy, bess etc. but what is the boy name equivalent? Boys names are HARD!!

Sid and Jed are on my list already!
I want to avoid an 'y' 'ie' 'ee' ending so Archie and Ernie are out. Not sure about Seth and know a few Wilfs, but do like it.

Looking for farm hand names sounds like a good excuse to relax with a Thomas Hardy novel MyOther Smile

squoosh · 11/02/2015 12:02

I usually refer to my servants as 'peasant' or 'you there'.

cabbagerose · 11/02/2015 12:25

Indeed Squoosh, and when one needs to be familiar then a chap's surname is more than adequate...

Sorry OP!

Indeed cabbagerose. In fact this thread has been my first alert to the fact that servants are even given first names!

reuset · 11/02/2015 13:21

Surnames or nick names

looki · 11/02/2015 16:33

You could always just refer to him as 'boy' (save yourself the trouble of having to remember at all)

Sorry OP :-)
