Reuban (I know it's spelt 'wrong' but want to avoid the possibility of Ben as a nn)
Daniel
Edgar

Francesca
Rosanna
Juliette (prefer this spelling/pronunciation rather than Juliet)

Any thoughts or other suggestions would be welcome. Thank you, lovely MNers!

Don't like any of your boys names. Daniel is the nicest out of a bad bunch.
Francesca is the nicest out of the girls names.

ScaryChicken · 11/02/2015 11:16

Reuban looks odd and would be often miss spelled. I think it's a bad idea.

I think Francesca and Rosanna are really pretty.

Bowlersarm · 11/02/2015 11:24

Love Daniel. Dislike your other boys names.

I like all the girls names, but you need to think whether you like the shortenings of the first two. I loved Francesca but wouldn't have used it as I really dislike Fran and Frankie.

My suggestions (quite hard because you don't have an obvious style, esp with boys names) :-

Susanna, Annabel, Lucinda, Jemima, Harriet.
Joseph, Nicholas, Rufus, Gabriel.

Fattycow · 11/02/2015 11:35

I like the spelling Ruben.

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/02/2015 12:18

Don't like any of your boys names, especially not Rueben spelt incorrectly.

Francesca is nice.

CarlaVeloso · 11/02/2015 13:00

Love Juliet. Juliette is too flowery.

Don't give Reuben/Ruben that daft spelling. People don't give nickname based on how a name is spelled but on how it sounds. Hence Thomas doesn't get Thom, he gets Tom.

Anyway surely Reuben is more likely to get Ruby. Ben is a different name.

CarlaVeloso · 11/02/2015 13:01

Actually, it's Rueben not Reuben so you've got two spelling mistakes in there!

reuset · 11/02/2015 13:22

I don't think changing the spelling of Reuben will help much

Aelfrida · 11/02/2015 13:47

I've never seen it spelt Rueben, Carla. It is a family name and my relatives have always spelt it Reuben. The latest of those was known as Ben. I actually agree with the majority re spelling but my ex is called Ben hence DH having issues!
Thanks for all your thoughts. We find boys names really hard!
Bowlers you have done very well as we have discussed all of those names except Rufus! Definitely on the right track.

I've never seen Reuben spelt as Rueben, it's always Reuben. Anyway, if the potential ben nickname puts you off I'd just avoid it altogether. I think people might pronounce it reu-BAN if you spell it Reuban.

I like Daniel and I actually like Edgar as well. In fact, Edgar is my favourite it's different but he can always go by Ed which is mainstream as well.

I like all of your girls names. Particularly Rosanna - I used to know a lovely little girl called that and it's really endeared me to the name.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 11/02/2015 15:51

I like Daniel, Rosanna and Juliette. I personally wouldn't go with a 'different' spelling of Reuben. But I agree with you on the spelling of Juliette - much prefer it to Juliet.

tammytoby · 11/02/2015 15:54

I only really like Rosanna and Francesca!

Sophronia · 11/02/2015 15:56

I like Edgar and Rosanna.

I've seen Reuben spelled Rubin before.

AugustaGloop · 11/02/2015 15:57

Please don't spell it wrong. I know a few Rubens/Reubens and none of them have ever been called ben. It is not an obvious shortening as the emphasis is not on that syallable so it does not really sound like Ben.

Nocturne123 · 11/02/2015 16:02

I like Daniel and love your girls names especially Juliet

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 11/02/2015 16:03

I don't mind Reuben spelt correctly.
Not keen on your other boys names.
Love Francesca. Also like Juliet but prefer that spelling, Juliette seems unnecessarily flowery.

evamummy · 11/02/2015 16:03

I like Rosanna and Juliette. Not so keen on either Daniel or Edgar, sorry.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 11/02/2015 16:04

Would you pronounce it Reu-ban?

PunkAssMoFo · 11/02/2015 18:45

Love all the girls names. Think juliette is my fave.

Don't like mispelling of Reuben. Daniel is dull.
Edgar is fab!

rockinrobintweet · 11/02/2015 21:57

LOVE Rosanna (I have a Roselyn)
however hate the way you've changed spelling of RuebenConfused

shoobidoo · 11/02/2015 22:10

I like Rosanna and Edgar most! (and also find Dan/Daniel a little dull, sorry).

ScaryChicken · 12/02/2015 03:03

Have you considered Gilderoy? Or is that a bit much?

londonkiwi · 12/02/2015 09:37

Like Reuben if it's spelt correctly. Don't mind your other boy's names.

Love all your girl's names. I also like Juliette spelt that way. We had a DS but our top two girl names were Juliette and Rosa!

Jackieharris · 12/02/2015 09:46

Reuban no to incorrect spellings! I'd never think of Ben as a nn for Reuben
Daniel chav name to me sorry
Edgar I'm really perplexed how you could have this and Daniel? They are completely opposite names imo. To me this name is posh and poncy. Ed/Eddie as a nn is equally awful as makes me think of mr Miliband

Francesca fine, solid, good unisex nn
Rosanna good, lots of nns
Juliette (prefer this spelling/pronunciation rather than Juliet) like, but will always have to spell it
