Sister for Annabel

Me and DH just been for our 20 week scan and it looks as though we are expecting a second little girl :-) Sonographer commented that she was struggling to get a clear view but thinks that our baby is a girl. We had narrowed down our boys list to 2, so hoping to do the the same for our girls list. So the names me and DH seem to be agreeing on at moment are:

Beatrix
Iris
Madeleine

Could you please let me know which one you prefer and why/why not. All feedback would be really helpful. Thanks :-)

Iris is my favourite, but I like Beatrix best with sister Annabel.

I love them all! I have a Madeleine so obviously that's my favourite. We get so many compliments on her name. Annabel was on our list for her. Iris and Beatrice (prefer this to Beatrix) are on our list for the next one. They all sound great with Annabel so I'm not much help, I'm afraid!

Beatrix suits best but Madeleine is stunning

My own list, so that's my preference, but for a sister for Annabel I prefer Beatrix. However, I think you should go with whichever name you like the best, not the one that sounds the nicest with her sisters's name, as it's only for a few years of her life she will be associated with her sister('a name)...

Thanks everyone. Really truck because I love all 3 for different reasons. Blahia, I agree that it is better to choose a name we love, rather than compliment a siblings name :-)

Beatrix is lovely, goes really well with Annabel.

I don't think Iris goes, sorry. But it is a lovely name, maybe as a middle name.

I love the name Madeleine, but unfortunately it has too many negative connotations - I immediately think of Madeleine McCann .

Iris

Lovely names but I'm not sure Beatrix is good after Annabel - child A and child B, isn't it?? Iris is lovely and not overused. Madeleine is great but I'm not keen on Maddy as a contraction.

My vote is for Iris. Annabel and Iris together seem like stylish and flapper-ish rather than extremely 2015, as Annabel and Beatrix do. Madeleine, IMO, was kind of overused in the early 2000s. Plus, I hate the ubiquitous Madelyn pronunciation and the nn Maddie. Plus, Iris is just beautiful - it's not frilly like so many names now, but it's feminine and dignified.

In order of preference
Iris (on my lust for DC#2)
Madeline (though agree with PP re poss negative connotations)

Beatrix (I don't like it personally)

All are lovely names

Iris and Madeleine feel a bit less common than Beatrix/Beatrice/Bea, although I actually only know 2 so they are hardly all over the place.

I know sisters called Annabel and Madeline so good choice. :) I like Iris but Annabel I think of as a very girly, pretty name whereas Iris seems a bit more no nonsense. Not that sisters names have to go together but I don't think of Iris as a pretty name. I like Madeleine the best out of your choices.

I don't like Beatrix.
The other two are both great.

I prefer Beatrice, to Beatrix.
Of your list, my favourite is Madeleine

Love Madeleine, like Beatrix and dislike Iris! Madeleine and Beatrix are quite whimsical and feminine. Poor Iris is a champion shot putter.
