Just Jed, not short for anything.
What do you think?

All the yes's

Asleeponasunbeam · 07/02/2015 21:17

I really love it. Would have loved it for DS but had a J name for DD so couldn't.

coldtoe · 07/02/2015 21:22

I was bracing myself for negativity.... Not sure why.
Is Jed better than Ned? Also as a full name

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 07/02/2015 21:25

I really like it.

And yes, Jed is better than Ned.

Asleeponasunbeam · 07/02/2015 21:25

It's loads better than Ned. And Ted, and Fred.

I like it as a standalone name but also LOVE Jeremy (again, couldn't use it because of the alliteration which we didn't want).

whizzyrocket · 07/02/2015 21:26

Perhaps those of us who view it negatively were politely withholding comment. It's not for me, but then I had a loathsome boy in my class at school whose name was.. You guessed it.. Jed.

LegArmpits · 07/02/2015 21:28

I love it so much it makes me want to have another boy so I can use it (almost.)

coldtoe · 07/02/2015 21:30

Yes, I also went to school with a terror called Jed. He's the only one I've ever known so I'm trying to shake the greasy urchin image and replace it. Surfer dude Jed?

Slang around here for head of penis, so difficult to get beyond that.

coldtoe · 07/02/2015 21:43

Whereabouts are you?

OP posts:
Smugnogplease · 07/02/2015 21:43

My nephew is Jed (1) and I know a 11 yr old one too. Fab name!

Frecklefeatures · 07/02/2015 21:44

Known 2 Jeds. Both were little tearaways who are now big tearaways/been convicted of crimes.

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/02/2015 21:54

It makes me think of very, very religious Americans.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 07/02/2015 21:57

I know a Jed. He's a tosser, he was that boy at school who thinks he's great at everything. He's a slimy car salesman now which suits himGrin

Also just makes me think of Jeddadiah(sp?) Very Duggar.

Allstoppedup · 07/02/2015 22:04

It's my friends husbands name and I really like it.

It sounds really strong and cool.

Another yes!

Leeds2 · 07/02/2015 22:16

It is my favourite boys' name. I don't have a son but, if I had had, I don't know whether I would've been bold enough to use it. Can never decide whether I would spell it Jed or Ged.

Rhubarbgarden · 07/02/2015 22:30

Not my cup of tea.

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2015 22:33

First thought=Jedward. Sad

AuntieStella · 07/02/2015 22:36

I really would see it as a NN

The ones I know in RL are Jeremy. The silver screen is Jedidiah.

And yes, Jedward.

twinjocks · 07/02/2015 23:44

Love it (well, it is my DS13's name!!).

HangingInAGruffaloStance · 08/02/2015 00:17

Coldtoe - Central Scotland

coldtoe · 08/02/2015 12:58

At this rate I will never be able to visit Scotland again as Jed and Ned are front runners!

coldtoe · 08/02/2015 12:59

People who own a Jed or know young ones - would anyone mind sharing sibling names?

OP posts:
wtffgs · 08/02/2015 13:00

Jed = Jed Bartlet!!!
Ned = a donkey Grin

reuset · 08/02/2015 13:09

Nope, don't like it. It looks unfinished and too casual, but then the usual longer 'jed' name alternatives like Gerard and Jedediah aren't the best.

I'd be tempted to use Edward or Edmund for full, or something else
