When you hear the name Darcy, what do you think? Is it feminine and pretty? Does it go with Tilly?

Cannot decide what little girls name I like!

Terrible name. But, so is tilly, so in that sense they actually match

fakenamefornow · 03/02/2015 19:35

I don't really think it goes with Tilly, as a middle name. I think Darcy Mathilda is really nice though.

wfrances · 03/02/2015 19:35

i like it a lot.

EternalBeauPlate · 03/02/2015 19:35

I love it. It's a beautiful name.

Panicmode1 · 03/02/2015 19:38

My BIL is called Darcy, so I don't see it as a girls name, unless it's spelt with an 'e' - but I can't say I like it for either sex particularly! Wink

Minty82 · 03/02/2015 19:38

Ha, Sukie - I know a black lab and a golden retriever called Darcy too - both male. And one little girl. I don't like it at all I'm afraid - slightly confused by where it's suddenly appeared from as I'd never heard of it five years ago and now it seems to be everywhere. Is it all Ms Bussell's fault? Just doesn't really sound like a proper name to me.

But then I'm of the school of thought that really hopes Tilly is short for Matilda because otherwise it's not a real name - so ignore me OP, we clearly just have very different taste.

obviouslyneedsupernanny · 03/02/2015 19:40

I think it's quite chavvy

CrispyFern · 03/02/2015 19:45

I think it's kind of like a K name, that doesn't begin with K. Iykwim.

Leeds2 · 03/02/2015 19:45

Would never use.

Think it more a girls' name than boys' though.

Babylove2015 · 04/02/2015 00:36

Think it's a boys name. Reminds me of Mr.Darcy !

toobreathless · 04/02/2015 03:52

Not my thing but absolutaly nothing wrong with it.

JapaneseMargaret · 04/02/2015 04:07

No I wouldn't use it, it lacks substance. But then, if your taste runs to Tilly, we're obviously in very different camps, name-wise!!

d1157230986361b000875 · 04/02/2015 08:06

It's a name my sister came up with, I personally think of Mr Darcy from Bridget Jones! Just wondered what people's opinions of the name were!

I wouldn't use it myself as I prefer more classic names but know a baby one and it really suits her.

dementedpixie · 04/02/2015 08:22

I know a baby Darcy (girl) and I think it's quite nice.

tinymeteor · 04/02/2015 08:25

I really like it! Think it's quite popular with Aussies actually

reuset · 04/02/2015 11:12

Does it 'go' with Tilly? It's similar I think in that they're both very popular, currently trendy girls names.

No, I wouldn't use it.

Darcey Bussell's real first name is Marnie, I think Darcey was one of her middle names. Marnie far preferable in my opinion.

reuset · 04/02/2015 11:14

Don't agree with it, the first name, sounding upper class Hmm

RiverTam · 04/02/2015 11:17

well, I'd spell it Darcey, but yes, I might, it's a nice name. There's one in DD's class and it suits her very well.

squoosh · 04/02/2015 11:20

I too think 'arsey'.

SunnyBaudelaire · 04/02/2015 11:22

I used to know an actual Darcy! It was short for Darcelle; she was American of course.

AmysTiara · 04/02/2015 11:24

I quite like it but my son has a friend Darcy who is a boy so I tend to see it as a male name.

Smugnogplease · 04/02/2015 11:31

Absolutely not sorry. The most pretentious aspiring (chav beautician sorry) mother at school has a Darcey. I like it for a boy though

Sophronia · 04/02/2015 12:53

I don't like it at all, but it does go well with Tilly.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/02/2015 12:55

If you think of, 'Bridget Jones' and not the 'real' Mr Darcy, then I'd say probably don't go for it tbh.

Hate it for a boy.
